    Ingredients in Supplements

    Just a quick question.

I have psoriasis and I take some supplements. I see that in a lot of supplements they use ingredients like rice flour. My goal is to be 100% grain and dairy free and it seems that while taking supplements this may not be possible. Any thoughts? Ideas?

I know that Nature's way makes a vitamin D that only has olive oil.

I would think that for someone without an autoimmune disease that the amount would be negligible but since I have psoriasis I'm trying to be as careful as possible.

Heh, your user name is so appropriate to this question...

Regarding rice specifically, it's gluten-free which is the #1 concern with grains. So in these small amounts, hopefully it wouldn't be a big deal. Mark blogged about rice recently, if that helps, and goes over the nutrition pros and cons here: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/is-rice-unhealthy/

Thanks Jenny, it seems like liquid supplements are the best best.

I also have autoimmune disease, and unfortunately for me, even small amounts of certain triggers are enough to flare me. If you can, I would go the extra mile to get supplements that don't contain non-primal things.

The link here is to an online reference of prescription drugs and, once you click on the "supplements" tab at the top of the page, all supplements. You can find the make up of drugs and supplements here.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to try and get the liquid vitamin D and fish oil.
