    Holy carbs Batman.....

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
I just did a Fitday of my typical diet... turns out eating an entire head of broccoli, green pepper, tomatoes, and all of the other veggies put me well above 50 g carbs per day!!!!!! My goal has been to eat less than 50 to put me into ketosis..... who knew that veggies were so carb dense outside of tubers and roots.

I would suspect it's the tomatoes that would have walloped you--they are pretty sweet compared to other veggies. I doubt the broccoli did all that much to add to the total (though an entire HEAD....wow....not sure I have the space to put that

Zone diet on and off for several years....worked, but too much focus on exact meal composition

Yesterday I steamed a bag of Frozen "Steamer" broccoli......I ate the whole bag for lunch......20 carbs since it was 2 servings, would not have been that bad, except for the avocado that found itself on my plate, the entire thing (along with a can of albacore).........37 carbs later I was VERY full, but wishing I had not done that. All said and done though I was under my goal of 50 for the day

I did not get the memo about the carbs in an avocado!

Trying to get into ketosis is pretty brutal. Meat, egg yolks, butter, oil. Are you talking netcarbs, or subtracting fiber?

My understanding that ketosis was anything under 50g of carbs. Guess i'm wrong! Not sure what subtracting fiber is, though. Interesting subject I'm sure.

I still go by the Atkins way of calculating carbs which would be to subtract fiber.

    You know, ketosis isn't necessary.

I just finished the primal leap and without eating tubes and minimal fruit, it was hard to get my carbs above 65 with stuff like broccoli.

As you should. This is an important part that many miss. Subtract the amount of fiber from the carb count to get the true amount of carbs being taken in and absorbed.

If you can eat over 100g of carbs in strictly vegetables (not including pseudo veggies, ala corn/tomatoes)......

    .......gross.
