capers are good on a salad, i have them instead of nice salty feta.
or cornichons? (little tiny cocktail gerkins)
i think butter is deemed okay, but coconut oil on veggies perhaps? with some nice fragrant herbs..?
I use pesto on my veggies, but you can make dairy free pesto; tons of basil, olive oil, pine nuts - mash em all up....
I went from having my pancakes with greek yoghurt (what you call fage - I call Yeo Valley!) to have "commuter squares" which you can search for in the bar at the top. you can add anything you want, only eggs are essential! the rest you can make up as you go. I did add single cream to mine but hey hey -rome wasn't built in a day!
good luck with it - i can't imagine being dairy free forever, i'm only cutting most of it out for weight goals - once i am there, I will eat as much as allows me to remain the same size as it doesn't bother me any other way.
but i feel your pain and if i think of any other ideas will let you know!
