    Kale in the Slowcooker?

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
    Hey Guys,

Working on a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner menu and was wondering if anyone has ever tried to make braised kale or collard greens in the slow cooker? I was over at the crockpot365 site and didn't anything there. Any tips/suggestions would be much appreciated!! Thanks =)

I haven't but there are several recipes on the web - all involve parboiling the greens first - here's one for ornamental cabbage of all things but its the same basic recipe for any hearty green i imagine the flavor would a great mellow one

Collard greens, yes, kale, no. I would definitely not do kale in the slow-cooker, overcooked kale is gross.

Just put it in the slow cooker with 1-2 smoked ham hocks, some chopped onion, garlic, and salt, plus enough water or broth to barely cover.
