Actually dairy is not frowned upon by the paleo/primal community some people just dont recommend consuming it if you cannot tolerate or it causes adverse effects.
I know dairy is frowned upon in the paleo/primal community, and Robb Wolf talks about it causing inflammation (and possibly cancer?). Can anyone point me to a scientific study that shows the bad effects dairy has on us?
Thanks!

Now go and enjoy some dairy. In this world nothing is good for you and once you start nitpicking every detail then you can no longer eat anything without being obsessive about its minuscule effects on your body. I bet most people who go down this path tell themselves they're feeling queasy after eating a dairy product just because someone told its bad for whatever reason. Milk contain high quality protein, fat and carbs.
There is also a study out there that shows milk is good for losing weight. I cannot find it at this time, but it was a legit study.
Both naturopaths that my coworkers and I have gone said the same thing: NO DAIRY.
The 'dairy causes mucous' thing has been a mantra for years. I did give it up at one point and noticed no difference. It's true that many people are lactose intolerant, or somewhat sensitive, and sometimes the results of change can take a while and be quite subtle to identify.
Here's a useful overview

I have read somewhere that pasteurization and homogenization affect the size of the fat particles
This one looks interesting but I don't have a pdf reader on this computer. Long url!

Fyi if you google something, go to the top of the page where you'll see 'more' with a blue arrow, under that is 'scholar' which will take you to studies. For dairy try words like lactose, homogenization, gut permeability = and if interested in gut permeability ( which leads to autoimmune issues) try including the words tight junctions. The tight junctions are sort of the glue between the cells.
I have noticed a tremendous difference in my body off the dairy -- so much so it's been surprising. Eye-opening.
Studies: Your Google machine works just as well as mine does.
The study was sponsored by the National Dairy Council and if one reads it, milk and dairy products are not responsible for weight loss, the vitamin D contained in dairy products is.
Of course, the National Dairy Council wants people to buy milk and dairy products to get their intake of vitamin D.Researchers found that vitamin D levels independently affected weight loss success and in line with previous research, milk and milk products were the top contributors to vitamin D in the diets of the study participants.
