For those NOT here to lose weight

    Primal Fuel
This nutrition forum, and no offense to anyone, is overun with weightloss topics/ideas/thenext big thing.

i have a hunch that there are a good number of primals out there who are not here to lose weight, so i am starting a primal nutrition health/maintenance thread. so to those not trying to lose weight:

what have you found 'works' for you personally?
    to you count carbs?
do you have to consciously try to maintain your weight?
    do ou IF?
    do you follow daily totals/macros?
    do you lift/workout?
has your intake changed since losing weight?
do you just 'eat' as long as it is primal and not worry about the rest?

what have you found 'works' for you personally? listening to my body and getting plenty of rest. Escaping from the "diet" mindset and realizing that my first priority is healing my body from the damage of SAD and vegetarianism. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat more cause primal food is so satisfying. So far, ive always felt better after eating more.
to you count carbs? no, but im sure im well under 100 most days. i dont eat allot of fruit, most of my veggies are dark greens. I do eat potatos, some times a few a day, sometimes none for weeks.
do you have to consciously try to maintain your weight? no, but i do have to conciously eat enough to gain weight
do ou IF? yes, sometimes daily, 14-20 hours
do you follow daily totals/macros? nope
do you lift/workout? yes, mostly PBF style body weight stuff. Boxing and occasional use of weights for squats/deadlifts
has your intake changed since losing weight? ive only gained weight with PB after lossing much LBM on a vegetarian diet. After a few months of PB my appetite did seem to level out, but I still eat allot as Im trying tro put on another 5-10 pounds
do you just 'eat' as long as it is primal and not worry about the rest? yes, even when its not primal i dont worry about it

I'm not trying to lose weight any more. Does that count?

what have you found 'works' for you personally? Eat delicious, primal food freely, whenever I'm hungry
    to you count carbs? No
do you have to consciously try to maintain your weight? Not so far
do ou IF? Only casually...sometimes I'm just not hungry so I skip a meal. I've never done a "I'm going to IF till a certain time" kinda thing.
do you follow daily totals/macros? No
do you lift/workout? I do Jazzercise, I walk a lot, I make an effort to use my muscles more (eg. carrying groceries instead of using a cart, taking the stairs, doing the monkey bars...)
has your intake changed since losing weight? I'm not sure.
do you just 'eat' as long as it is primal and not worry about the rest? Yep.
    Liz.

Zone diet on and off for several years....worked, but too much focus on exact meal composition
Primal since July 2010...skinniest I've ever been and the least stressed about food

what have you found 'works' for you personally?
Yes and no. I have found what works for me is cutting sugar and fruit completely (as well as grains ect.). Other than that I'm alway experimenting with where my fats come from (dairy or not) and what my meat sources are in order to see what my body handles the best.

    to you count carbs?
Nope. I do partake in ketostix though. I find peeing and getting an answer fun, but I don't take it seriously in terms of needing to be in ketosis.

do you have to consciously try to maintain your weight?
Nope. I was/am naturally thin and my weight does not fluctuate more than 5 lbs. It does seem like my ratio of fat:muscle changes a lot when I am primal.

    do ou IF?
I do it once in awhile, but only when I have been fully primal for at least a week prior, otherwise it may trigger a non-primal binge.

    do you follow daily totals/macros?
    Nope.

    do you lift/workout?
Not really. I walk at least 30 min a day. Working on that aspect.

has your intake changed since losing weight?
    Didn't lose weight

do you just 'eat' as long as it is primal and not worry about the rest?
YES! (when I am being "good")

what have you found 'works' for you personally?
    Eating primal until stuffed !

    do you count carbs?
I did at first, but felt better around 100-150 grams since I'm very active

do you have to consciously try to maintain your weight?
I just eat when I'm hungry

    do you IF?
I've tried it a few times, but I don't do it often

    do you follow daily totals/macros?
    Not really

    do you lift/workout?
I run long distance for my college, so a lot of chronic cardio :-x. I do it for competition though

has your intake changed since losing weight?
I didn't lose, I actually gained some muscle. I was underweight beforehand

do you just 'eat' as long as it is primal and not worry about the rest?
    Pretty much

    - If it was cute and cuddly at some point, eat it. Ignore everything else. -

    - Food is first, and foremost, nothing more than fuel. -

    - The body is animal. The mind, however, is not. -

I had been reading the MDA blog for quite a while and finally read the PB book and then started to read/post on the forums. My take on the blog and book was that PB is about living healthy with eating being a part of that. I was very surprised to see the forums so focused on weight loss. I thought I would be part of a small minority.

Nice to see this thread even though I can't contribute to it yet.

I arrived at a weight I'm happy with now and am only working to change my body composition, so I'm proud to contribute here.

what have you found 'works' for you personally?
I follow Mark's basic ideas pretty closely. I do have plenty of dairy though. Except for that, I pretty much find all his suggestions tend to work great for me.
    to you count carbs?
Not regularly, at all. I have out of curiosity though. I guess I eat in the 100-150 range most days.
do you have to consciously try to maintain your weight?
Not so far. My feeling now is that if I eat this way I'll be the "right" size automatically.
    do ou IF?
Not really, I skip breakfast sometimes. I did some IFing while losing but now I'm trying to build muscle.
    do you follow daily totals/macros?
Nope, but I have tracked enough to know that my typical day ends up about 50% fat / 25% protein / 25% demon carbohydrate
    do you lift/workout?
Yes, I've done mostly bodyweight and sports stuff but just recently started a barbell program 3xweek.
has your intake changed since losing weight?
I'm eating more now, but my appetite is really up since I started getting under the bar. Seems very natural to eat more now.
do you just 'eat' as long as it is primal and not worry about the rest?
"the rest" means counting stuff, IFing? Yeah, pretty much.

I mean, the basic plan works really well for me. I think I do well enough now on the food side of things that I need to focus on getting better sleep, less stress, more play, and lifting really heavy crap for a while. Primal / paleo eating has gotten really easy.

what have you found 'works' for you personally?

I eat when I am hungry - usually two meals a day, although sometimes one would be enough

    Do you count carbs?

    no

do you have to consciously try to maintain your weight?

    No

    do you IF?

I will do purely because sometimes I'm not hungry and therefore why eat?

    do you follow daily totals/macros?

    no

    do you lift/workout?

I do and am trying to do more as I would like to change my shape a little and become stronger. I'm finding that I have more energy and am having these spontaneous urges to go for long walks. The dog enjoys this lol!

has your intake changed since losing weight?

I haven't lost much - didn't need to. I started to eat more fat and found I lost slightly but my shape is changing and am not complaining!

do you just 'eat' as long as it is primal and not worry about the rest?

On the whole yes. I eat more for health than anything and find that I have never felt better on this WOL
