    I am looking for some good movements that use the pecs that people are using in addition to pushups. I'm not looking for any in the gym stuff. Thanks!

    Dips with your chest forward at the bottom of each rep.

    I find them to be a lot more effective in terms of building upper body strength and size compared with pushups.

    Do a planche pushup...if you can :-P... ... there are a million pushup variations and basically anything you can do here would be some sort of variant of that motion (obviously to hit the right muscle groups) so get creative ...

    find a bench/swiss ball, fill some bags with sand/rocks (or just grab two similarly weighted rocks) and do some pec flys

    Get one of those mini-backpacks and add weight. Put a leg in the air, clap push-ups, plyometric push-ups, walking push-ups, handstand push-ups, there's a lot of variations. Just be creative!

    pushups, dips, variations. i don't really get flies....like, is that really a functional movement? or one that even builds mass?

    I've found that just large quantities of push ups and even weighted push ups with 75 pound weight vest were not enough to get my pecs into the shape that they used to be in. So, I'm back to bench pressing and doing flies. I have a specially modified bench bar that I use and I bench with dumbbells as well. I also vary things up be doing incline and declined bench as well.

    Flies are great for shaping the chest muscles and creating the ridge down the middle. If you're just wanting to be a power lifter then I wouldn't bother, but if you're working out for fitness or body building then I would highly recommend them. Just be careful not to go too low and hurt yourself.
