    Anybody have any favorite Primal crock pot recipes they want to share?

    As a matter of fact, I just got the crockpot out today to cook a pork loin... now the question is whether the smell of it cooking is going to increase my suffering as I sit around studying for a physics test while it cooks

    1 pork loin roast
    1.5c apple cider vinegar
    2 tsp smoke flavor
    Half an onion
    1/3c ketchup (I have a kind that has no sugar or sweeteners in it)
    1 tsp black pepper, crushed
    1 tsp salt
    2 tsp garlic powder

    Place pork loin in crock pot, slice onions into rings and arrange over pork. Mix vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, ketchup, and smoke flavor, and pour over pork. Cook on high for 1-2 hrs, then on low for 4-6 hrs.

    Oh man, ha ha! That was me yesterday trying to study for my medical transcription class while I had a chicken stewing!

    DEFINITELY gonna have to get me some pork loin and try this one out!

    Interesting topic. I also got the crock pot out today to cook a chicken. I put Prosciutto, fresh thyme, fresh lemon, salt and pepper on it. Cooked it about four hours and checked the internal temp and it was done but was still a couple of hours until dinner time. Here's where it gets good...LOL. Had a head of cabbage we needed to cook, so I cut it up and cooked it in the crock pot in the chicken juices. DAMN that made some good cabbage. One of the best dinners I've ever made and had no idea that was what was going to happen when I got out of bed this morning. And the bonus was one hour after eating my blood sugar tested at 81.

    since well before I was primal I've been making Kaluah Pig in my crock pot. Take a pork shoulder (boston butt), and put it in the crock pot. fill the pot with water up to about half-way up the roast. Sprinkle the top of the roast with a handful rock salt (use kosher if you can't find food-grade rock salt) and a tablespoon or so of liquid smoke (get the real stuff that's just the real hardwood smoke condensed into a liquid. ingredients should be something like "water, hickory smoke.") Cook on low for 8+ hours. Pour off the excess water (or save for soup, it's a great, gelatin-filled pork broth) and shred. serve with sauteed cabbage.

    I have to revive this one, I want to make some beef stew or veggie stew in my crock pot very soon. Any recipes you guys suggest? I may even run out to the store to get some ingredients.

    Chicken (un-noodle) soup?
    For the Stock:

    chicken (3pounds or so, or two cornish hens)
    about 3 1/2 quarts water
    1 onion, peeled and quartered
    2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
    1 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
    2 tablespoons of garlic
    4ish bay leaves
    3 chicken bouillion cubes (or you can sub chicken stock/broth
    Kosher salt and pepper

    Take all these ingredients and put them in a pot together for about 30-45 min till the chicken begins to fall apart. Next remove the chicken (carcass and all) and set it aside to cool... also take out the quartered onion, unless you want to have some onion in the soup itself.

    Next you start making the soup base....

    about a handful of sliced carrots
    handful of sliced celery.. you can use the tops too if they are leafy
    3 cups uncooked egg noodles (or NOT, lol)
    1 cup diced mushrooms
    3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
    3/4 cup cooking sherry or white wine (I chose white wine)
    2 teaspoons rosemary leaves
    1 cup grated Parmesan
    3/4 cup heavy cream
    and another dash of pepper

    Add the carrots first after you bring the stock back to a boil.... Let them boil for about 5 minutes then add the celery boil for another 5-10 and then add the egg noodles. Cook until they become al dente and then add the remaining ingredients... if you don’t have the heavy cream you can omit... but it makes it more rich and flavorful.

    My sister sent me this recipe after I had some at her house, it was THE BEST chicken noodle soup I have ever tasted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    For New Mexican flair:

    Pork shoulder
    14 oz. diced tomatoes
    1 sliced onion
    3 garlic cloves, minced
    8 oz. New Mexican green chiles (preferably frozen if you can find it, cans will suffice)
    S & P
    dashes garlic powder, cumin, chile powder, and oregano

    I love love love this recipe from Everyday Paleo....she takes celery, carrots, and onions and puts them in the bottom then boneless skinless thighs on top of that. Some lemon juice, garlic (i prefer the roasted minced kind from the grocery store as to not overpower the dish), salt/pepper, and then you pour enchilada sauce over the top and cook on low all day. It was so very good. Serve it with diced avocado.
