I think he's on point in here
I came across Dr. Joseph Mercola's website while doing a seach online about the dangers of Soy. Wow! He has a lot of very good articles about cholesterol, sugar, soy, artificial sweeteners, etc. I would like to share some of these write-ups with members of my family and friends. But, I want to make sure this guy is credible and that nobody is going to come back to me and dismiss the information because of the person who is supplying it. So, anyone know anything about this guy? Is he a reliable source of information?
I think he's on point in here
I think Doctor Mercola is fantastic. yes, he holds the opinion that almost everything is bad for us these days, but it's true!
yeah, he has a lot of very good info on his site..plus he's a qualified doctor.
Some people have issues with the fact he sells products on his site, but he himself addressed the issue in an article... basically he has to be able to fund the site, as well as deal with lawsuits from big corporations who take issue with his advice. Furthermore he sells only what he believes in, and he does offer all his information for free,
ETA - that said, i agree with others on his fear mongering...this can be a major put off for many people, and is a shame because people who take it all seriousely will get themselves stressed out and unhappy which is not healthy at all

Personally, I can't stand to read him, listen to him or visit his site any longer.
Sticking with the following would probably take you a lot further:
* indicates easier to read; less 'jargon'
American Society for Evolutionary Medicine
Cooling Inflammation - Art Ayers, PhD
Evolutionary Medicine Forums
*Evolutionary Psychiatry - Emily Deans, MD
*Healthy Skeptic - Challenging mainstream myths about nutrition, health and disease
*Heartscan - William Davis, MD (cardiologist)
*Michael Eades, MD - a critical look at nutritional science
*Paleo Nutrition - Kurt Harris, MD
*Perfect Health Diet - Paul Jaminet, PhD (astrophysics) andShou-Ching Shih, PhD (molecular biology)
*Whole Health Source - Stephan Guyenet, PhD
*Vitamin D Council - John Cannell, MD (worth signing up for his infrequent newsletters)
*Mobility Workout of the Day
Cash-grabbing fear monger.
I would suggest not using him as a source if you are wanting to educate someone in regards to nutrition. He tends to hold some views that others would consider "wacky" and could use that to discredit him.
i liked him until he started talkin' smack about cod liver oil. he's pretty much a salesman like kevin trudeau in my eyes. although natural cures is what led me into diet and natural health. oh well;-)
Red meat is not bad for you. Now blue-green meat, that's bad for you! ~Tommy Smothers
Once you have lost credibility, it is hard to get back. I suggest cross checking Dr. Mercola with Cardiologist Dr. Wm Davis here:
Dr. Davis is TOTALLY reputable and is my bible on all questions:
Here is what he has to say about soy products. Nothing bad.
Do a search at his site on WHEAT and here is what you will find:
* IMAGE: Wheat Belly, weight gain, Bad Cholesterol, Brain Fog, heart disease, lost energy
* MDA - WHY GRAINS ARE UNHEALTHY
* Wheat Free Diet gets AMAZING results:
* Grains - Fat melting away from not eating grains
* Wheat - Makes us feel Hungry
* Wheat - Visceral Fat, Man Boobs, Breast Cancers, blood sugar, Big Belly
* Wheat Benefits = none
* Wheat-insulin resistance,diabetes,heart disease,hypertension,cancer,arthritis,cartilage
* Wheat - Your Brain on Wheat
* Wheat Severe Joint Pain
* Wheat the Nicotine of Food contributes MIGHTILY to Diabetes
* Oatmeal-Rocketing blood sugar, pancreas damage, equal to a bowl of jelly beans
I suggest referencing Dr. Davis for his views instead of Dr. Mercola.
Best of health to all,
