I think if you shift your focus to being fit and healthy, the weight loss might even take care of itself. I find it easy to cheat if I am thinking in terms of calories. When I think about what "Treat X" is doing to my body, it's much easier to look for an alternative. I have run into people I knew when we were all young and beautiful (and didn't realize it) and I almost want to cry, they look so grey and puffy and unhealthy. (And these are not even the smokers and drinkers.) I do not want to be that. I do not want to be diabetic and exhausted and stacking one medication on top of another. Ain't nothing I can eat that is worth that.

I do recognize that small bits of cheating, well spread out, are not going to hurt me. Regular cheating in not-so-small amounts is asking for a miserable decline into old age. Which is now close enough for me that it is not some distant abstract. This is my immediate future if I pump myself full of the wrong fuel. You know what sugar in a gas tank does...

There. How am I doing in the negative motivation department? LOL!

Tuesday

I was supposed to go to my Home Instruction Student's this morning and to the theater for more set construction this afternoon. Both plans were cancelled, so I had an unplanned FREE day!

I got up at 9, had a Chai, did some internet stuff and cleaned my kitchen and dining room in the morning.

At 1pm I thought I should have breakfast, so I had a 3 egg frittata with mushrooms and bacon and cream. Then I debated on what to do next. I could organize some of my stage manager stuff, I could unpack, OR I could take the Butterflies for a walk!

Guess which one I did

It was a beautiful, sunny, calm, 10 C day. Did you know that if I walk south from my house that I can be on the beach in 40 minutes? Cool. We went for a OFF leash walk! (I brought the leashes - just in case)

We walked the field with the Butterflies staying close. When we got to the road (our field goes back the whole concession) I put their leashes on to cross the road and then we had to walk down the hill on the road to meet the trail. Then I let go of their leashes and we walked the trail to the beach.

We played on the beach for 20 minutes and then had to turn around when we got here:

Here's an idea of our walk back. First the cornfield (note that it is no-till)



See the bush in the middle at the back?

This is the same bush on the left. We are now in the soybean field (also no till)
Our silo is just visible beside the large tree on the horizon in the centre.



When we got home, both Butterflies needed a bath.
They were NOT impressed:



Since my back is bad and I can't bend over the tub, I use the kitchen sink.

Around 4 I was feeling hungry, so I had a small dessert bowl of pulled pork. And a Sparkling water in my wine glass.

Supper was spaghetti. Well I had the meat and tomato sauce and cabbage salad (shredded cabbage and onion with a little mayo) Dessert was a baked apple with whipping cream and a bit of maple syrup.

Add a couple of squares of coconut oil/creamed coconut/macadamia nut stuff to my day
BUT I avoided the microwave popcorn!

LOL! Sounds like a great day, food-wise too. I like drinking sparkling water out of a wineglass too. Especially when cooking. Makes me feel like one of those TV chefs.

Wednesday

9:45 Chiropractor apt. in London.
Supply teach from 12:00 - 2:30 (great kids - I worked on my Stage Manager book while supervising them)
A little shopping (I bought the damn Chilean Lime Kettle Chips fried in Avocado Oil again)
Surfer Son's Girlfriend here for supper
Made a mug of this
Made a batch of shortbread cookies to donate to a music night on the weekend. I made 3 extra cookies - one each for the Farmer, Surfer Son and Daughter. And I strongly warned them to NOT touch the other 24!! On pain of death!

We'll see.

I think I'd like to try a primal batch of shortbread. Has anyone tried it? How did you make it? How was it?

Daughter asked me to watch this:


Foods
8am: Chai with whipping cream
Noon: A couple "gummy" squares of beef bone broth
2:30: A couple coconut "stuff" squares
4:00: I still wasn't really hungry, but I ate a 1/3 of a 200g wheel of Brie, cause I thought I should eat something
4:30: 1/3 of the bag of chips (BUT I really tried to eat them s l o w l y and mindfully and not shove them in my mouth like last time) I actually quit because I WANTED to and NOT because I felt like I SHOULD!
6:00: Pork loin (pan fried), cauliflower, peas, a small bowl of whipping cream and frozen cherries
8:00: the paleo brownie
