No! Don't tell me that! I don't want to still have boxes in 7 years!

    Sunday

I took the Butterflies for a walk this morning. We had an exciting moment!

We stopped in the garage. It is detached from the house and we leave the door propped open for the outdoor cat Max. This is what the old man who used to live here did. We are going to have to do something differently, `cause twice now I've gone into the garage and there's been a SKUNK eating Max's food!

I checked first, no skunk, (it usually comes at night) so we went in. I have an old couch against the far wall (I'm waiting to get it recovered). As I was looking for something in my car, Lily and Josie were running around smelling everything. They ran over to the couch (which is partially hidden behind some shelves). Lily jumped up on one end of it and was acting excited so I went over to look.

There was a RACCOON on the other end!!!

The Butterflies weren't sure what they should do. I yelled "Leave IT!! and "Lily! Josie! HERE!!" The raccoon was starting to stand up on its hind legs. I wasn't sure they were going to come! I called again. I'm SURE they could hear the panic in my voice! Lily came before Josie. I called again in my high frantic voice and she came.

We got OUT of the garage and I had a BIG party with lots of treats. I said "That was a raccoon and they are dangerous!" I told the Butterflies what an EXCELLENT job they did leaving the raccoon and coming here.

What a terrifying way to "proof" Here!!!

    Imagine if they hadn't...

We continued our walk into the field and back.

It was such a nice day that this afternoon I took the Butterflies out for another walk, this time on the beach. They did a great job of staying close. I only hid on Lily once. We came home and Brian was leaving to go surfing so we went back and watched him and took a few photos.

Agreed. I've been reading through both threads, and it is confusing. WTF anyway? I've been considering the MOAR FAT thing for post vacation, but now the MOAR POTATOES thread has me weirdly intrigued. I really have no idea.

Nice job with the butterflies and the raccoon, by the way .

Great balls of fire! I've opened 3 journals to read this morning and all 3 where spambotted!! They must have a convention going on... I worry if I eat more taters, I won't stop.....love those things.

    I was intrigued too.
My feeble attempt today was a failure of winencandy proportions

I don't normally eat breakfast* but I "tried" the Taters idea this morning with mixed (mostly negative) results. I tried dry frying a small shredded potato with some garlic in my small, well seasoned cast iron pan, 'cause I have no non-stick pans. Well, they burnt and messed up my pan** I ate them with some balsamic vinegar salt and pepper. I had NO whipping cream in my Chai**** and I planned poorly for work.***** Around 4:30, on my way home I felt SO weak, shaky and light headed****** that when I stopped for gas I bought a banana in the variety store. (It could have been MUCH worse) When I got home, my Daughter was making chocolate chip cookies with toasted coconut...I ate some batter...Supper was a squash "soup" with coconut milk and butter and chicken and after supper I had one of my Daughters cookies...

So, yeah, my 1st try with only potatoes - epic fail!

I used the Black Triangle of Death on my spammer! No nice love letters from me!

I've never really given up my potatoes, I've cut down somewhat, but never eliminated them.

Monday (the non Epic Tater Failure part of it)

I woke up with a TICK on me!!!!!!*
I pulled it off and painted some iodine on the spot (inner thigh)
It HURT all day. It still hurts.

    I supply taught from 11 - 2, so I ate the Taters about 10am.
A teacher at the school told me about an old cemetery near the school and a river.
It was a nice afternoon, so I went exploring after work** I left the cemetery and wandered down by the river.
    I got some neat photos:

Of course, I realized AFTER my walk (in my skirt and black leather boots) that I could have picked up ANOTHER tick on my walk!

After supper, I dropped some props off at the play practice and then went to band practice from 7-9.
When I got home I had one of my Daughter's cookies.

    * insert mad, sad, disgusting, gross, painful faces on my feelings chart!!
** hindsight - If I'd gone straight home, I MIGHT have been able to continue the Tater Experiment...

    Ticks?? EWWWWWW .

Reminds me of many years ago (aka before kids) we went on a backpacking trip in Nova Scotia in the late spring. Every night after setting up the tent, we had to do a thorough tick check. Of course, that was sort of fun, since we never found any attached, and well, you know, we were young and um, I'll stop talking now.

    I like the photos.

I haven't tried the potato thing yet. I probably will, but not this week. Of course, I might just be crazy

I may try it again, but if I do, I'll have to plan it better than I did today

Don't worry about boxes. You are clearly more energetic than I am. Although I can make no guarantees about the effects of boomeranging children.

You PULLED the tick off? I thought that was a no-no. Something about their heads coming off and burrowing down deep. Yuck! I hope that's a myth, for your sake.

I think salt is supposed to get them to pull out on their own. A burning cigarette definitely works. That's what we used when I was a kid and the men in the family still smoked. (My father did till he died - way too young. The smoking was not a helpful factor.) A hot match head would probably do the trick too.

I am not going to try the potato thing. I noticed that quite a few people didn't get great results. If I'm going to go all weird, I'll try the three days of eating only protein. I do eat a very occasional potato now, but just small amounts, and not too often.
