Primal Fuel

Rahchis, I have been told something about that in Brooklyn. What days of the week are they operating? Could you please tell me more about it?

    rphlslv,

I'll do you one better. Here's the site. You can search for farmers' markets by day and neighborhood:

Rahchis, thank you so much! I'll be down there sometime this week.

    That will save my diet.

Also, you can get grass-fed beef from there. There's one farm called Grazin' Angus. The family who owns it is wonderful. I've had many conversations with them about primal eating. They love me, because I buy organ meets galore and kidney fat to make my own tallow for cooking.

Grazin' Angus even has a website. You can e-mail or call them in advance to ensure they bring what you want to the market. They're at Union Square on Friday and Carroll Garden on Sunday.

Wow thank you, I thought that I was lost in NY. Is there anything going on tomorrow at Union Square? Or anywhere else in Brooklyn?

Also, I buy a lot of my leafy greens from the greenmarket. There or Fairway Market in Red Hook. By the way, Fairway Market also has pastured, Omega-3 eggs for around 4 bucks or less a carton. They also have grass-fed ground beef for like 4 or 5 bucks a pound.

Is this how I find where the markets will take place?

They're called greenmakets? Are they all organic? Are they all trustworthy?

I'm going to the Bronx today anyway so I might as well go take a look!

Yes. That's how you find them.

You shouldn't really go by "organic." that designation has become a joke. A calf can be labeled as organic if fed organic soy and organic corn.

Most of the local farmers have beeter, more sustainable and cleaner practices than big industry organic famers that supply en masse all around the country to places like whole foods.

You should read Pollen's The Omnivore's Dilemma. It talks about this issue specifically.

Hey, I just came back from two greenmarkets at The Bronx. I got some carrots and celery for so cheap, but no eggs though. The lady told me to check again next week because her dairy guy wasn't there today.

That's great. If you're going to be anywhere near Union Square, try them tomorrow. That one and Grand Army Plaza on Saturday are probably the biggest two in the city. Union Square on MWF features many farmers.
