Making liver last
I consider liver the most nutritious food there is. I am looking at doing some travelling and I was wondering if anyone knows a way to store or prepare liver so it will keep (since I may not be able to find grass fed liver in some places).
Can you make jerky out of liver?
Or picke it?
I used to make liver jerky for my dog. Because it had no spices/seasoning it was pretty bland tasting although my dog loved it. It definitely looses that delicious liver flavor that you are used to when eating liver. I'm not sure how nutritious it is either once you boil and bake it into jerky.
If you make a liver pate and then seal it with a half inch of melted butter, it is SUPPOSED to keep well in a cool place - but I have never tried it.
