    12, 000 year-old feasts

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
"... scientists have found the earliest clear evidence of organized feasting, from a burial site dated about 12,000 years ago. These remains represent the first archaeological verification that human feasting began before the advent of agriculture. ...

"[they] uncovered the remains of at least 71 tortoises and three wild cattle in two specifically crafted hollows, an unusually high density for the period. The tortoise shells and cattle bones exhibited evidence of being cooked and torn apart, indicating that the animals had been butchered for human consumption."

Tortoise, and the cousin, turtle are delicious. My best as a kid was snapping turtle which we caught pretty easily. Box turtles are not really to be eaten. Later I couldn't get enough of carey--a sea turtle. Not sure which it is in English. Sadly, carey is no longer allowed to be taken for food. Shows how good it was, so many people ate so much of it that it almost 'went away'

You could probably find a recipe for mock turtle soup on the internet. Might taste right. I don't know.
