So my 70s Big hoodie came today, which is pretty sweet (I'm wearing it to write this post). Not so sweet is the £13 customs duty I had to pay on it. Motherfuckers.

My book is nearing completion (again) and just has a few chapters left (still). When I say 'nearing completion' of course, I mean the first draft, but that's 120,000 words better than nothing. It's pretty cool. Will hopefully be done by the end of the month, then I've got a few changes I need to hop back and do (continuity corrections, that sort of thing) before it gets locked in a figurative drawer for three months. I need to defamiliarise (word?) myself with it before the second draft gets done. I've got another thing to do some work on while I'm waiting, anyway.
(edit: just finished today's writing at 25 words off 120,000 and quarter of a page off 200 A4 pages. Awesome.)

This is cool for anyone who likes A Song Of Ice And Fire (aka Game of Thrones if you only watch TV and don't read, you pathetic loser):

Squatted 106kg for 3 of five today, felt like I had a truck on my back. I'd forgotten what that 'how will I make the next workout' feeling was like.

It seems I've also briefly forgotten to stop being such a pansy.

Just got back from the Lowry Hotel restaurant in Manchester, paid for by relatives somewhat richer than I - very posh establishment. Fabulous food and expensive wine. Nice to see how the other half lives.... and they live very well indeed.

    The bastards.

So regulated blood sugar levels help with resolve? Nice to see a study about how glucose affects us (when I talk about blood sugar, people go "You're not diabetic" and I face-palm).
    Journal on depression/anxiety
Currently trying to figure out WTF to eat (for IBS-C).

It's nice to see something like self-control, normally so vague and slippery, get a little grounding in biology.

    A bit of food porn.

Last night's dinner: (chicken legs, parsnips, carrots, red cabbage, butter):

My regular lunch (sweet potatoes fried in butter with cinnamon, scrambled eggs and crispy bacon):

Book first draft is done now save for a couple of little epilogues that I've had in mind for a while. I'll get them done tomorrow.

    This is pretty cool.

Also, on a random note, I'm doing yoga-type stuff. It's also pretty cool, but in a slightly different way.

An excellent article by Johnny Pain of strengthvillain.com. I don't always agree with the guy, but this is some really good stuff. Original here.

Of course you do. Who wouldn’t?

    Now here’s the better question:

Do you want, wish for, or aspire to have extraordinary things, or have you made a decision to bring extraordinary things into your life?

Notice the simple difference in language here. Hoping, dreaming, wishing, wanting, and aspiring are all synonyms, deciding is not a part of that group.

The word decision comes from the Latin Decidere, which means, in so many words, to cut off.

Think about that. When we make a decision, by definition we are severing any possibility of an alternative outcome to that which we have decided to manifest.

My Pop Pop who I admired greatly was famous for saying, “Hope went out to shit and the hogs ate him”. What that means I never did quite understand, but suffice to say that he felt hope was a weak word used by people who talked much and did little.

Everyone wants a rich life. A relative few actually take the actions necessary to see it happen.

    Think about this as you lay your 150 bricks in this first six months of 2012;

Your goals that you’ve established and are working towards, are those things that you want, or are those things that you’ve decided you will have?

If you’ve decided you will manifest those life elements this year than I congratulate you in advance because you have already eliminated all possibility of any outcome other than the one that you have chosen, and therefore will bring great change this year.

To those who are hoping, wishing, dreaming, wanting, or doing anything else that isn’t deciding and acting, make a decision today.

This is truly a fight for your life. Will you lose by forfeit, or win by decision?

Just finished the first draft of my book about thirty seconds ago. Feels really, really good.
