Question concerning cream
My apologies if this has been discussed, but I couldn't find anything
on it when I did a search.
Ok, what I want to know is, we have been eating a bit of cream lately
especially as my son can't have sugar as in conventional sweets, as I
am glad, so for desert we are having berry's and cream. But we can not
get Raw cream or milk where I am in OZ so is the supermarket kind all
right, I make sure that there is no add nasty's in it just pure cream.

Your fine. If you can get organic, go for that. I just had berries and cream a few nights ago.....
Try to get "pasteurized" as opposed to "ultra-pasteurized." I can only get the "ultra" stuff in my local grocery store, and have to travel to Trader Joe's or Whole Foods or another health food store for pasteurized.
All I can find is ultra-pastuerized where I live, but I still consume it very regularly. I had 4oz over some strawberries today with my breakfast... so yummy

If you cant find organic, just try to find some thats antibiotic and hormone free.
Thank you everybody, I haven't even found organic, so I guess
occasionally wont hurt, just try not to make it a habit, it is so
yummy with berry's though, and I also use it to make white
sauce when having corned beef, it is awesome, no more need
for the usual wheat white sauce.
I just now got my first heavy cream (Organic, Horizon) and I tasted it and... got nothin'. I was really excited about it and all built up about trying it from everything I've heard... but no fireworks! I even tried it over blueberries. Whassup with that?
Heavy cream if you've never eaten it before is rather bland in taste.........it's the mouth feel and synergistic effect in has on food that is appreciated most. The beauty of cream is you can mix small amounts of other flavorful ingredients to change the flavor. Vanilla bean is pretty spectacular as an example. A little balsamic on strawberries with some lightly whipped 35 or even better devonshire.
Tastes GREAT with vanilla! But I do like it straight, and I have quite a bit of it every morning in my coffee. When I'm feeling peckish I'll swig it straight from the carton (sorry, mom) and I think it tastes a bit sweet. Very delish! If I can't get to town to get the pasteurized, I will use the ultra stuff in moderation. It's all about moderation. Except when it comes to cream in coffee. Moderation, bite my *ss.
I find cream just a bit sweet too, just right. I don't know if the difference in tasting it as sweet is pasteurized vs ultra-pasteurized, or just individual variations in taste buds.
