    Just curious if anyone else on the forum will be doing the open this year. I wouldn't mind getting a fellow primaler' thoughts and strategies.

    The first workout already has a curveball thrown. Never seen a 1rm in the open before!

    Not doing it myself, but I'm training a ton of people who are. Maybe I'll do a workout from it just to test myself out.

    Participating, but I'm a newbie and a work in progress....heading out in a few minutes to do the scaled version of 15.1. My only strategy is to get it done!

    15.1 - 157 reps (scaled)
    15.1A - 85# max clean and jerk 97# fail

    Just for sh!@%s and giggles, they had me try the 97# again after the WOD...managed to clean it, but psyched myself out on getting it overhead. Sigh....next time.

    This weekend I met a woman who has won several cross-fit competitions. The thing is, she doesn't do cross-fit. She trains people for cross-fit competitions using barbell strength training and probably lots of other things, which is what she does herself. But cross-fit itself she describes as way too random to actually accomplish anything if winning a competition is your goal.
    Female, 5'3", 50, Starting weight: 163lbs. Current weight: 135 (more or less).
    I can squat 192.5lbs, press 75lbs and deadlift 210lbs

    Crossfit open 2015

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
    124rx, 205lbs

    15.1 - pretty happy with my score. Wanted to complete 4 rounds and I did, plus 4 reps. Broke toes to bar up 8-7 until round 4. Snatches were 3-2 touch n go until the final round where shit hit the fan and I did 1s.

    15.1a - my goal was 215, cleaned it but didn't get it overhead. Turns out you need your abs to stabilize weight overhead! Happy with 205 being fatigued as I was. Grip was getting iffy but the cleans were no problem. Pretty much caught them in a high 3/4 squat.

    Really looking forward to next week!
