    I've been playing around with the paleo/primal way of living for the past 3 months. I have been about 80/20, but I want to use the auto immune protocol next to uncover any unknown aches and sticking points.

    I'm 27 and would say that for most of my life I have been cronically ill. All I ever knew was anxiety and depression covered in a bath of alcoholism, sedentarism and poor eating. I am done FOREVER with all that. Tweaking my lifestyle just a little has helped me get off the alcohol and cigs, now, I want to see what it is like to feel life.

    My current goal is to heal my body. I want to get rid of my low back pain, pain in my right elbow and both knees.

    I have spent the last few months working on my posture, started Grok squatting daily (Can now hold for 5 secs ) walking for at least 30 mins daily and doing bodyweight exercises. When I stand at the mirror, I almost have vertical alignment.

    Food will be easy for me, I haven't found a food that won't stay down yet... ate cow's stomach for the first time yesterday.

    I won't be going back to my job in the new year, it is making me sick again so I am looking for something that allows me to live in health more than anything else.

    Play! I need lots more of that too!

    Welcome. Are you over weight? That is most likely the source of the knee pain

    Hey, no, not over-weight thankfully ... never seem to gain any weight, always maintained 75 - 80 kg and I'm 6ft 2.

    Welcome McAttack -- lots of moral support to your efforts for better health. Congrats on your headway with booze and cancer sticks, and best wishes for finding a good job match in the near future.
    Suggestions:
    1. If your low back pain is not significantly improving with your posture efforts, I strongly suggest having it checked out by a chiropractor. I have had remarkable success with chiropractic care and specific exercises that were recommended in addressing my lower back problems. I was on the road to a surgical "solution", but chiropractic ended that. While there have the chiro check your elbow/knees, you may have some structural alignment issues that can be readily improved.
    2. If you are a heavy PC user -- check out standing desks.

    Thanks Rig D, I feel really hopeful when I get support like this.

    I have been to the chiro for two sessions. She was tiny but managed to heave and shove my hips back into alignment. I noticed that I couldn't hold myself upright in a cross legged sitting position so I assumed my back muscles were weak from years of sitting. I'm working on changing that now. I did some wieghted squats today and I will go and deadlift some heavy rocks lying around outside in a few days.

    Yes, at the new place I started, which I am also leaving now, I tried to build a standing desk. I couldn't get it right but I'm leaving anyway so no worries.

    I have been doing a lot of floor sitting, actually, sitting on a chair immediately starts causing pain unless I am at the edge with an upright back. I am also floor sleeping and I really like how that feels.

    I'm glad to hear you are healed, what do you thing did the damage?

    My back problem I attribute to age (I'm now 67) and inactivity, and possibly an extreme overuse event in my youth. My work was flying a desk, I had little exercise, getting less all the time due to no cartilage in right knee. So, around 14 yrs ago I was in my home office, turned to the left to open a file drawer and my back went out, fell out of the chair in extreme pain. It took me about 2 hrs to get back into my chair. After several MD visits, referral to a back specialist, it was clear I was on a straight path to back surgery. Took my x-rays to the chiropractor who had previously helped my sons with sports injuries. He said he thought he could help me. Many adjustments, much exercise, but I got better. I had a disk that was damaged, and some bad spinal alignment. Last year, he took x-rays again. My spine was aligned perfectly, damaged disk is much less noticeable. I do a series of exercises on a big stability ball to help with maintenance, see Ball Exercises | Complete Guide to Ball Exercises, look at the back exercises.

    Here is what I use for a really simplistic, easy to set up/knock down standing desk arrangement that could be used in a conventional office environment:
