    The Sport Drink Craze

    Primal Fuel
    Dear Mark,
I searched your archives but could not find any research on this,

Gatorade, G2, Poweraide, Gatorade Ion, all claiming incredible performance benefits if consumed beofre, during or after workouts. As far as i can see, they are just juice. What is the research behind them, is it a valid claim to say they are beneficial and what would be the best thing to drink before during, or after exercise. Personally i throw my hat in with water, what does the research say?

Heh, well you said it. They are juice. And sometimes electrolytes. They replenish glycogen and supply the body with some materials that it needs for muscle contraction.

I prefer the primal choices of fresh coconut water and the Masai signature, blood from a cow's jugular.

So refreshing! Picked up a 6 pack last night, now with lemon!

I prefer goat blood with marrow chunks, but to each their own.
OP, I honestly think most are sugar water/ sugar goop with just enough faux nutrients to differentiate themselves from a coke.

Goat blood! Silly me. That's way more metal than cow's blood. But the pertinent question is: does it come in lemon?!

Gatorade does make a powder pack of electrolytes to add to it's drinks, they wouldn't sell to the avg consumer as they make the drink "salty", I would normally throw 2 packs into one normal sized gatorade to maximize lytes

What I would like to know is what is a cheap electrolyte drink replacement for use during activity?
