    Gelatin

    Hi there

Looking through past threads, Great Lakes gelatin seems to be the one most recommended.

Which of the three is the best and how many teaspoons should I take a day ( I can't tolerate bone broth)

    Thanks for your help

Just keep in mind that it is not a complete protein because it lacks tryptophan (easily obtainable in bulk powder) and cystine. Also methionine is very low. This would suggest it is best used in combination with other complete proteins (like in a whey shake for instance or after a meal of beef or chicken to increase amount of protein consumed).

At minimum 1T a day is best, green can is easiest to use since it doesn't solidify like the other cans do.

As for the complete protein, refer to http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum...d104901-5.html (post #44). The whole "not a complete protein" is IMHO overhyped.

Big time. Seeing as the body breaks down the protein and uses each one individually.

Yep. Also, unless "missing" amino acids like tryptophan were at the moment limiting reagents in muscle synthesis, it doesn't really matter whether one ingests more tryptophan or not. What matters more is the overall influx of available amino acids.

More like than not, the total grams of protein intake is the only count one needs to keep track of.

(In fact, too much unbalanced tryptophan can be stressful on the body, which is an argument for talking slightly more gelatin and slightly less muscle meat...)

Am using gelatine to heal a very leaky gut, so was looking for some ideas as to the maximum number of teaspoons I should take each day

think in terms of tablespoons and i wouldn't worry about limiting it for now at all.
As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.

I take 1/4 cup a day... Some times more. It's just like eating food... There's not a maximum unless you're talking about a calories cap.
