Can someone scientifically explain how saturated fat

Can someone scientifically explain how saturated fat "raises cholesterol" and "causes heart disease"?

I enjoy contributing to health articles here on yahoo, but I am quite upset over people's answers to some questions. For example, if somone wants to lose weight, i see some answers like:

"Don't eat red meat ,it has saturated fat and it will kill you!!11!!!"

This is terrible misinformation and somewhat like brainwashing,as we have been eating animal fat for thousands of years, and as soon as we started consuming grains and vegetable oils,(about 100 years ago) CHD has spiked significantly.

Can someone prove me wrong without quoting wikipedia on how saturated fat is bad for us? I'd love to see a great explaination.

    Thanks

As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.

    Here's a good study:

The group eating saturated fat had a higher cholesterol level, just like one would expect.

They also had a significantly lower mortality rate.

Saturated fat downregulates the LDL receptor, and some people's cholesterol rises significantly with saturated fat depending on the polymorphism of their APOE gene. It's easier to get a lot of saturated fat from full-fat dairy than meat, but humans have been eating dairy for thousands of years without the sort of chronic disease we see these days, but we also have the most sedentary populations in all of human history. On the other hand, innate immunity also plays a role in atherogenesis, so it's one of those things that's tough to avoid.

Is it bad for you? No worse than anything else.

It raises pattern "A" LDL (big and fluffy) and HDL. Carbs raise pattern "B" LDL (small dense), raise triglycerides, and lowers HDL

Would I be putting a grain-feed cow on a fad diet if I took it out of the feedlot and put it on pasture eating the grass nature intended?

native LDL does not appear to be atherogeneic. It is oxidized LDL that seems to be the problem.
