    Carb Load?

    Hello all,
    getting ready to run my part of relay ( 6mi.) in a marathon on Sunday was wondering if anyone had some good ideas for a carb load or just maybe some thoughts in general around this topic, thanks for weighing in.

    6 miles isn't worth carb-loading imo.

    Carb load is a good idea the night before. Glucose 6-P (from recently eaten carbs) is easier to access for the body than glucose (from glycogen).

    I would eat rice, bananas, and potatoes.

    FWIW I train vlc the week before a race and backload the night before (usually non primal items like a whole 16" pizza). The morning of I keep breakfast light with a small portion of beef heart then a banana not long before the race. This system works for me. Good luck!

    I'm with the posters above. I run up to 6 mi before breakfast some days. There is absolutely no need to carb load. Have a couple hard boiled eggs and some fruit an hour or two beforehand.
