    Bone marrow

    Primal Fuel
    I made it last night. It was very mushroomy. And oily.


    How do you fix it so that it's yummy? I can see potential here, but I failed last night. Any tips? I used s&P and garlic.

    I eat it plain, just got done eating it. Pulled out of freezer, put on plate, placed in oven @ 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

    Salt and pepper work for me. Garlic sounds like a nice addition.

    In pre-primal days, I would spread the marrow on a slice of bread, add salt and pepper, and chow down. Some sort of primal bread substitute might work; I need to look into that.

    I eat it in beef stew. I don't really like it yet plain, but it adds a nice richness to the beef stew.

    I think it makes a big difference how old the cow is; as it ages, the marrow turns to fat. I had beef marrow bones once, and while I do like beef fat, I find I really don't like eating nothing but spoonfuls of the stuff for a meal. Maybe look for veal bones, or lamb bones?

    I was craving it and ended up eating 2 bones worth of melted, fatty marrow - I totally O.D.'d and now I can't even eat pemmican. I've gotta take a break from beef fat for awhile. *oops*

    Grab a ham shank. Throw it in oven as directed. Remove meat. Suck out delicious pudding-like marrow from leftover bones.

    I like broiling marrow up with salt and pepper. Then when serving I'll serve it with roast garlic and dijon mustard. As well as a shot of aquavit.
