    Question Eating Fingernails?

    Primal Blueprint Expert Certification
After biting off some fingernails I always seem to chew on a few and was wondering if this is some primal instinct that's hardwired into us? Is there a nutrional value at all and how could that have applied to us during our evolution?

    Thoughts?

I'm guessing this is habit more than instinct.

As far as I know, we don't have any enzymes that are able to break the bonds in keratin, so no nutritional value. I could be wrong (it's been a while since I actually studied this stuff).

probably not. I know that when I'm very busy and very productive, I don't have time to pick at or bite my nails and cuticles so right now they look amazing. lol There's also a magnesium/zinc/potassium peice for me. When I'm not getting enough of those calming minerals, I tend to engage in perseverating sorts of habit/ocd behaviors.
