Getting back to P/P...with a broken ankle
On December 3rd, I was stepping down from a step ladder and missed the last step...resulting in a really, really nasty (think: sheared off) broken ankle that required 2 reconstructive surgeries, 2 plates, a rod, and multiple screws. I was not allowed to put any weight on it for 12 weeks. At 12 weeks, I was moved from a cast to a boot and was allowed to start putting weight on it. At 16 weeks, I was allowed to put my shoes and socks on BOTH feet for the first time and to also start putting weight on the foot (walking) without the boot. I use a cane to help me walk, but, like today, after a couple of hours of having my foot down it swells up to twice its normal size and my foot starts changing colors.
It's going to be a long, painful recovery.
So, I'm trying to figure out what to incorporate as training. I am severely obese, but have been P/P before and did well so am coming back.
I'm not sure how to match the fitness with the diet as I can't figure out how to exercise with a broken ankle. Any help appreciated!
