    Stock

    Primal Fuel
    Hi all,

    Im new to this PB thing and was wondering if stock cubes are acceptable to use in cooking, or should I strictly use fresh stock?

    Also I work shift work and thus need decent ideas to take to work for lunch. BTW I hate salmon

    Sodium can be an issue with premade stocks/cubes, so that would be my main concern.

    Most stock cubes have MSG and sodium masked as other ingredients like hydrolyzed yeast or flavorings or something.

    If you don't have time for homemade, the boxed stocks (preferrably organic and low sodium) are a better option.

    I am on a serious hardboiled/pickled egg kick lately. Those would be great for lunch.
    Plus any leftover meat on a salad. With more eggs of course

    Agreed, use the boxed broth or stock instead of the cubes.

    As far as things to take for lunch here is what DH & I do....I'll make dinner at night for 3 people instead of just 2. I'm home at lunch so I'll make something for myself, but DH takes the extra portion for his lunch the next day. If he is going to be home the next day we pop the extra serving in the freezer.

    Or are you asking for specific recipes?

    Stock cubes also tend to be extremely high in AGEs, unfortunately.
    Give me liberty. Exploration of other options will be vigorously discouraged.

    use stock/broth from a box. you still have to look at the ingredients though, because companies sneak in msg by using things like hydrolyzed soy protein, yeast extract, and other things. i found the kitchen basics has good, healthy stock *though not as healthy as homemade of course* and it costs 2.50 at my parents military base commissary.
