Tribute To The Scottish Amongst Us

I recently watched some BBC TV- a couple of shows set in the Highlands. That led to looking for a bit of Scottish music more on the folk/traditional side. Words fail me and some of these tunes move me to tears:

Dougie MacLean - 'S Fhada Leam An Oidche Ghemhraidh - YouTube

    Fear a Bhata {The Boatman} at Dougie MacLean's House - YouTube

Dougie Maclean - Farewell to Whiskey - YouTube

Dougie MacLean - Caledonia - YouTube

Mo Nighean Donn, Grdh Mo Chridhe (My Brown Haired Maiden, Love - YouTube

    Anyways, greetings and respect.

Hope everyone enjoys, and wd. like to know about your favorite music, as well.

Sounds good! I'll put in a recommendation for checking out Duncan Chisholm and Ivan Drever, if you don't already know them. Both fantastic scottish musicians as well!

I've also got a quart of scotch in my blood, but I infused that myself

Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, both together and separately, deserve a mention:

The gentle light that wakes me - Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham - YouTube
Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham - Shetland tunes, Hogmanay 2010 - YouTube

Also, for more contemporary takes on Scottish music, you could try Wolfstone, Runrig, and Capercaillie

    Wolfstone - Ballavanich - YouTube
    Runrig Loch Lomond - YouTube
    Capercaillie - Coisich A Ruin - YouTube

My grandmother's name was McClure. I think that might be Scottish. My dad said we weren't Irish. If so, I've probably got a quarter or an 8th Scot in me. Love those Scottish fiddle tunes in the key of A. Always bring down the house!
