I'm in Georgia right now, and I bought some fresh made Mountain Butter from a farmers market. The ingredients are sweet cream and salt. (I usually go for unsalted but I thought this was too good to pass up!)
But-- odd thing-- it's BRIGHT orange and kind of 'rubbery.' What gives?? It looks and feels like cheddar cheese! But it melts and tastes like good old fashioned butter. is 'mountain butter' a variety I don't know about?
My local mom & pop store sells all natural yogurt from grass-fed cows, and has a big sign up saying that the yogurt is supposed to be orange, as that is the color of the milkfat when cows are grass fed. I'm guessing it would be the same with butter.
