My gripe is with fat, out of shape people who say the way I eat isn't healthy...Really?
Today is a new day. You will get out of it just what you put into it. If you have made mistakes, there is always another chance for you. And supposing you have tried and failed again and again, you may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call 'Failure' is not the falling down, but the staying down.
He's had various pointer boards, learned sign language, used software (mostly at school) and mostly has M&D wrapped around his little fingers by forcing us to learn his way -- lol!
He's understandable enough once you listen for a while...especially when he's either repeating questions/statements ("whaz-goin-on-here?"/"nize-shoes") or uses the point and make-an-appropriate-noise (angry, sad, happy, excited) method.
He IS well loved by both his dad and I...and his 15yo brother. It's not unusual to see us in a store together all giving/getting hugs and even giving 'Devin kisses' on top of the head (Devin and I always seem to be the recipients -- we're both 5'4" while DH and Bro are over 6'!)
Mebee THAT's my GOTD... I'm a vertically challenged, gravity enhanced Mama who just don't get no respect!

Goal 160 lbs -- last time there was in junior high!

Went to the doctor's today, got told that soy milk is a good source of calcium (among other things, to be fair). Got my Tdap vaccine (no idea when my last was) and my shoulder is SUPER sore. Bad gas/intestinal pressure all night and day due to Indian food for dinner yesterday. At least my gripes are petty today!

Finally got a call back from the doctor's office after my post-concussion MRI friday.
I don't know what poor guy they roped into calling me, but he really didn't know the big words at all, and he was reading it straight from the other doctor's report. I swear, I almost started helping him sound them out. But at least he was nice.
According to the guy, everything is fine. Oh, except there's some damage, but nothing that would cause memory loss.
Well, gee, that's great since memory loss never was much of an issue in my case. You guys just kept insisting it was. MY biggest gripe was unexplained weight gain, lethargy and extreme irritability. Aren't YOU glad the moodiness has pretty much resolved itself.
So I asked for the location of the damage. "They didn't say."
Went back to the place that did the MRI and they handed me a disc in 10 minutes, no charge, with all of the pictures on it.
Looked up the same report online (in this medical group eveything goes online the minute a human sees it) and found the damage is "adjacent to the right occipital horn of the lateral ventricle". Yeah, I know. Big words.
From what I read in another part of the report, I'm thinking there's thyroid damage as well, but I'm still using layman's Google-fu for now.

My coworkers and their awful tastes in music. Every goddamn day it's an infinite loop of Creed, Eminem, DMX, Staind and Three Days Grace, and I'm this | | close to killing everyone and then myself.
But soon I'll be in charge of the prep kitchen (and thus its ipod dock), and I'm going to make them pay dearly for what they've done.
I'm almost out of eggs and my egg dealer isn't delivering until Thursday. Two days and four eggs...not sure I can make that work without breaking down and buying a dozen at Safeway even though I know they will suck in comparison.

My gripe: This is for Saturday and Sunday. Why don't parents mind their children in public anymore?
On Saturday we had dads totally ignoring their kids as their kids sat in the street blocking a parade. People pushing floats and dancing up the street had to go around them. Once in a while, parade volunteers would push them back to the curb, but they'd immediately go back and sit right in the street and make all the parade performances go around them. If they had been my kids I would have forced them to sit on the curb like everybody else.
On Sunday we had to deal with a kid (at a restaurant) who got his dad to beat on his back while he went Aahhh Aaahhhh Aaahhhh for like 10 minutes. Then he ran around the table and around and around and around and then swung himself from our table and his dad's chair before they finally stopped him from being so obnoxious.
What is the matter with people? My parents would have spanked my bare bottom and taken me home if I had done any of that.

My uncle, being everything but a priest in his Episcopal church and a conservative man and father, finally had enough after asking numerous times. So he took matters into his own hands - he walked over to the young lady and bodily plucked her off his furniture and placed her onto the floor. This kid was no toddler at the time...
Kelly's father was so incensed at this action that he immediately packed his family up and drove right back to Canada early. I heard later, from my cousin herself (Kelly's mom), that this man will also let Kelly walk willy-nilly through restaurants upsetting anything she pleases, so until Kelly's father learns something about child care, there will be no further children - and there haven't been.
Don't know what the father went through as a kid - maybe he had brutally controlling parents or something (I barely know him)?? But good for my uncle!!!
One of the best parenting bits of advice I ever got was this: YOU MUST SAY NO TO A KID - IT IS THE BEGINNING OF SELF-CONTROL.
