A little update on my progress. I finally started eating enough and my strength improved.

Butt wink is where your butt tilts back, or your low back tucks under, at the bottom of the squat. I think it has to do with weak hip control and front hip tightness.
I had to take a step back. I'm still having trouble eating enough, psychologically, I guess. I've been really tired and increasing weight every workout just wasn't working because I was more worn out...
Terrible day. I'm on week 3 of Starting Strength. After two weeks of great gains, I got this hair-brained idea to go low-carb again (after 8 months of low thyroid and low testosterone, didn't learn...
Half-assed P90X2 X2Core and did a little bit of Scott Herman's no weight contraction/flex routine. It was my day off, but I wanted to get the blood flowing.
They sit at the computer all day, probably have some serious kyphosis issues haha
That's a spam bot. Notice the three broken pictures/links.
I don't really have a need to alter the program, and in fact, I should probably take it a little slower on the squat and deadlift given my inexperience and Scheuermann's Kyphosis. I'm only two weeks...
1) I have a real problem with dogma and affinity for individualization, so I'm just trying to feel out a way to make the program work for me in the way I want. 2) I do have a digital copy of the book.
Well, I guess contrary to what I may have let on, I wouldn't be using 1RM as a "measure" of my strength as much as a tool to increase my weight quicker. I've added 70 lbs to my deadlift in a week and...
Can someone explain 1RM to me? From what little I've read, you can take your 5-rep weight, plug it into an online calculator, and find the weight you should only be able to do 1 rep max on. If you're...
Ah, I'm new to the bro world haha, thanks for the correction. What is the rep scheme with heavier weight? Just 1x5? I've just been doing a slightly lighter weight than my last lift to warm-up and...
7am this morning. I incorporated some great MWOD hip stretches and paid more attention to my form.
Squat: 155x1x5, 185x1x5, 195x2x3
Bench: 135x1x5, 155x1x5, 165x1x4, 165x2x3, 95x3x15/10/6 (burn...
tfarny, thanks for explaining that. I don't know why the bar seemed so high then....
^ Goddamn spambots.
I'm back at college (was on Spring Break last week), and I'm glad students are too lazy to workout at 7am haha. Got in to the rack no problem. I did a mix-match day today,...
This, for the love of God. "I dropped coffee and cream and started losing weight again!" Really? You quit drinking coffee, and thus cut out 100-500 calories of heavy cream, and you blame the coffee...
Here, let me type supplements into the search bar for you...
Oh come on....
This. Freshman football players in high school (around 15) do a lot more than this, and although I'm not saying youth sports is perfect, they do a lot more intense stuff than this. Every other day...
This is my first off weekend in Starting Strength. I went to the city park with my little brothers and did the fitness trail. Total of 1.83 miles with "exercise stations" every tenth of a mile....
I think your own anti-cardio dogma is getting in the way of realizing your confirmation bias.
Correlation not causation.
I know someone that died of a heart attack while shoveling snow in their driveway. They did it every winter. I guess chronic snow shoveling is bad for you.
Having just started Starting Strength, that was my first gut reaction. Squatting a heavy weight is not at all similar to vinyasas. Both are good exercise, but can't be compared. That being said, I...
I love this video...found it back in November. One caveat: she also did some experimental medical stuff, like electric stimulation. So it wasn't entirely diet. That's a bit misleading.
No, I appreciate the cold-hard honest advice. Thanks for the welcome. I'm excited to see my progress over the next couple months.
