Thanks guys. And rich, remember I'm jealous of your billion pound deadlift.

  2. I always get worried about a catastrophic injury.

"Randy" aka 75 power snatches for time. I've probably done this bad boy 3 times. I think it was programmed in the open one year actually. Not my favorite workout but it is nothing dangerous for...

Really happy tonight, accomplished a long time goal of mine by hitting a 225lb clean and jerk! Wasn't my most pretty lift but overall happy with form. Apart from a slight misstep I think I had the...

The best quad workout on the planet would be front squats IMO. Work up to a heavy lift then drop to 50% of that weight and crank through a 10x10.

"Crossfit ivory tower" is dead on. Those guys (glassman especially) are basically dictators of the sport who value their own opinions almost exclusively. You all probably know I love crossfit but HQ...

I think the programming and timing of events during the games this year could have been much safer on the athletes. Every year they up the intensity. When is it going to stop?

Yikes, I'd steer clear of that gym. Owners/coaches are not doing their jobs.

Can't argue with that eden. Just a reminder these were the worst handful of lifts of hundreds performed. People do dumb things at the highest levels of competition. Do those lifters push to the point...

Hey it can't be all bad. Mark (Sisson) actually sponsors some masters athletes. Bill Grundler 45-50, 2nd place this year, was one of them. :)

  10. I always get worried about a catastrophic injury.

I'm nowhere near an expert on deadlifting/powerlifting and the stresses caused or not caused by hitching but I've never heard it to be harmful and a cause for injury. :(

Also I see no problem with the hitching where, much like in a strong man competition, this is allowed. Obviously this isn't something you would see in a powerlifting comp because those are the...
  12. I always get worried about a catastrophic injury.

Michael, I think that was a team event from last years games. So yeah they are the second best. Think AAA to MLB. It's a funny video but one that perpetuates the 'Ol crossfit has shitty form stigma....
  13. I always get worried about a catastrophic injury.

Murph during the hottest part of the day was a mistake. The other events were fine. There were hundreds of athletes competing and a few got minor dehydration and of course a few more serious injuries...

It all depends what your body can handle. I personally get extra calories by eating potatoes, rice, and dairy. Everyone's body will respond differently but those three work for me. If you can handle...

Solid lifts bro. Keep working and stay healthy.

I've been looking for a nice beginners comp around Houston, something to push me in training. Big thing for me is consistency with all lifts. I'll...

I've found that I need more carbs then your average primal human. At some point in the day (usually post workout) I'll eat a fair amount of potatoes or rice. If I don't it's hit or miss. I might be...

I would think wendler (5/3/1) would be a better fit for you. You can crank out your main lifting set in 20-30 minutes then make a metcon up for conditioning.

Just curious, in those years of...
