Yesterday I devoured the better portion of a rotisserie chicken. I was at whole foods and ate it after a 22ish hour fast. In the cafe people were probably eating their little sugar scones and looking at me funny. Wasn't hungry at all untill 20 hours later! Oops.. two fasts back to back!

Yesterday I had a leftover burger patty with cheese (not so carnivore) for lunch then spaghetti squash with homemade lamb spaghetti sauce. Um, again, not so carnivore. But, low carbs for the day. Did have a glass of wine, too.

This morning, I had hit 10 pounds total loss since starting about six weeks ago!! Yay!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to update on DH. He did terrific this week! He lost 2 pounds (he's trying to get rid of a little fluff around his middle). 145 is his goal and he hit 147 this morning. I am afraid he may overeat today though since survival week is over. But I warned him and said he will feel like crap since his system is clean now. We'll see what happens...

hey kebekgirl- we usually do a formal thread for survival week every other week so our next one will be the week of Oct 5. Carnivore means meat/fowl/eggs only. My only suggestion is just listen to your body. If you are IF'ing or doing carnivore, stop doing it if you start feeling gross. I love survival weeks because they have really gotten me to listen and be more in tune with myself.

Ended up with 35 carbs yesterday.

Everyone have a great weekend and thanks for this week! Everyone did fabulous!!

Hi y'all!
I found you too late this week to do this challenge - is anyone doing it next week? Also, what does "going carnivore" mean? Is it as simple as just "all meat/fowl/eggs"? Any suggestions for a newbie?
Thanks...

MamaSofi - That's awesome. I can't wait to have a spontaneous IF day last night. If you coasted through, it's almost as if your body just wanted it!

I managed to avoid a ton of junk food yesterday that I wouldn't have done in the past yet again, yay!!

B - 2 eggs, 2 pieces of chicken sausage

L - Salad and home made chicken soup

S - handful of pumpkin seeds

D - was on the road as I had to leave for the beach right after work - managed with beef jerky and some veggies and a few strawberries, glass of red wine at the beach

S - was sooo hungry when I got home late last night so I cooked up some eggs and had a small salad

Carbs - 57 - not as good as I have been but could have been worse!!

I'm going to try to continue this through next Friday as that's when I have to leave for my camping trip

When I woke up this morning, I thought "Let's try black coffee this morning so I can gear up for my IF next week." Well, I ended up IFing until 5pm today. About 21 hours. Without any trouble, unlike my first IF. That one was a doozy! But htis time, I just coasted. Felt great. Did my stronglifts even.

Opened my fast with some salmon patties topped with a fried egg and pancetta. Then visited some girlfriends and had one too many beers, which lead to chocolate. Oopes. But here I am still alive. Going to bed now. Gonna poop tomorrow though!

Goof for you girl! My cousin married a dental assistant (now Hygienist) and when I advise my family to get rid of the metal, she waived her hand at me in dismissal and overrode me with "Oh, amalgams are just fine".

I wanted to smack her! Heavy metals, such as Mercury, released into your bloodstream with EVERY bite is NOT fine!

YES! A rubber dam is what it was. What a torture device! He showed me pictures after and I could see the metal clamps chomping down. He also had to give me 3 novacaine shots to get it numb. But, hey, at least it's done. It was the last of my silver fillings that was decayed underneath pretty bad so now it's lovely porcelain.

I know what you're saying about missing the dental assisting though. I used to be a manicurist and sometimes I miss that just because it was a mindless job and I created my own schedule.

Oh, DCKMB, you had a "Rubber Dam" placed over your mouth. I had to practice punching holes in those things for days. The scary part are the nice little clamps that chomp down on your surrounding teeth!

Not fun for the patient, but I do miss Dental Assisting. I'm weird, I know, but some people enjoy strange jobs like shoving their hands into total strangers' mouths! ;-)

TGIF!

Wendy, my niece's name is Kylee (spelled with the double e). Great name!

I had eggs, bacon, and coconut oil for breakfast. Then I went to the dentist and had a crown done. My jaw hurts so bad. They put this thingy over my mouth so I had to keep my mouth open for 2 hours and couldn't even relax it when the dentist wasn't in my mouth. Took 3 advil hopefully they kick in soon.

Don't know what else I'm eating today because I'm in pain :-(

Yay for new appliances!

Yesterday was an 'easement' back into actually eating after practically 'fasting' for 40 hrs.

I had a Vanilla Protein Spinach Shake with OCO, some small bites of Pemmican and a couple of Canadian bacon pieces. At home, I had a bite or two of the new bread I made and then had a few bites of an orange.

I still wasn't that hungry, so I let my family eat up the Primal pizza that I made for them and I wasn't even tempted to eat any.

Breakfast this morning was about 6 thick nitrate-free bacon strips (from "Grassland Beef" - Yum!) and two nearly hard-boiled eggs (microwaving eggs at work is difficult, to say the least).

My fridge has the following to choose from for lunch today:

String Cheese
Nitrate-Free Bologna (Grassland Beef)
Canadian Bacon
Pemmican
Braunschweiger (beef, instead of pork, & liver in a bologna-log style)

Mostly fat and meat. :-D

MandyGirl, nice work avoiding all the temptation last night! So hard!!

Today is another carnivore day. So far I haven't eaten, other than cheating by licking Kylie's yogurt spoon. Planning to have some sausage and maybe eggs when I do get hungry. Don't know yet about lunch and dinner, but headed to Costco today so that will probably have some impact.

Getting a new dishwasher today, hurray!!!

Oh, I also wanted to mention that I tried a new class at my gym this morning: Trekking. Basically it's walking/running whichever you chose at different inclines for a hour. It's as close to hiking that you can get indoors. I loved it!

It looks like everyone is doing such a great job this week! Keep it up! I'm so proud of myself for what happened yesterday. Around 4:30 I was given 2 free tix to an event at a country club that had wine/alcohol tasting and a ton of food sampling from local restaurants. I did so well and managed to avoid every single dessert while my friends chowed down on them!! This is a huge milestone for me!

So yesterday was:

B - IF
L - Big salad with turkey, hard boiled egg and a ton of veggies
S - Walnuts and a little tuna right before the event
D - a mix at the food tasting of lamb, pepperoni type stuff, teriyaki beef on a stick(prob the worst thing I ate carb wise), some mixed veggies & 2 glasses of red wine and a taste of a margarita

I calculated my carbs to be around 35 + alcohol...not sure how much that has

Tonight will be my next challenge - going to a bonfire and fire spinning at the beach and everyone is bringing "picnic" food. I'm bringing veggies. Will prob bring some jerky or something for myself. I know there will be loads of junk. I'll just have to dance the whole time so I'm not tempted! haha

Okay plan for today:

B: 1 slice pumpkin pie (hubs asked me to help him finish the last two slices, what a bum!) made with organic canned pumpkin, coconut milk, and a pecan crust (not a stitch of sugar!). 3 eggs fried in bacon grease, 2 pieces bacon.
L: 6oz hanger steak
D: "Breakfast Sandwiches" from Son of Grok's website. These are good! I'm not usually a fan of the pancake/bread replacement things, but these are just egg and shredded coconut, and they go great with bacon and eggs :)

So far I'm at 11 carbs, dinner should give me another 11, so 22 for the day. Not terrible. That's only around 1,400 calories though, I'll see if I'm still hungry after dinner.

WO: Just walking! My butt/shoulders/abs/thighs are sore today! It was a good workout yesterday though, I actually felt strong :) People were staring at my purple vibrams the whole time, but I'm pretty much over that now!

The Good: I lost a pound and one inch off my waist. My hunger was very low today after fasting yesterday. I did two workouts (HIIT and pilates). I ate only 3 planned meals (plus a dessert that was planned), but no random snacking (very unusual for me).

The Bad: I had some nuts in my salad and in my dinner, and I had some dairy in my dessert so it was a little "cheating".

B: scrambled eggs, bacon
L: chinese chicken salad
D: salmon patty w/ pinot noir glaze and almond-garlic roasted cauliflower
S: coconut milk "jello" with warm berries (simmer milk, coconut milk, & agar - then cool and top w/ warm berries). Wendy, this recipe came from your book.

Wendy, 30g carbs?!?! Wow, that's awesome! I am also excited to try to fast again and see how I do this time. The first time was like a learning lesson.

wow kl, that is good! I haven't been strictly carnivore this week either, I still feel odd eating only meat in front of other people...I'll gladly eat only meat for breakfast and when I eat lunch at my desk though!

Today went as planned, but with some pork rinds and 2 tablespoons coconut butter added in around dinner time. That left me with 18 carbs, woot!

Workout was good! I haven't done any lifting/gym stuff in three months, which was awesome really. I got back into the gym, and had absolutely no desire to go into the cardio room, which is what I needed to break myself from over the summer :) Mission accomplished! I need my hubby to go with me to help with bench press and to teach me how to use the squat cage, maybe he'll go with me next week.

Yesterday I had 3 eggs and an entire package of fat dripping bacon for "brunch", and a half pound of hamburger for dinner. Water.
Today I had more hamburger for breakfast, two packets (1 serving each) of almond butter for a snack and two bratwurst for dinner. Water.
Not carnivore, but still good.

Thanks, Sass! :)

Just logged today into Fit Day out of curiosity, and 72:24:5 fat:protein:carbs percentage. I think my dinner intake was more than normal all around and I feel a little stuffed, but at least the whole day was only 30 g carbs.

After yesterday, I kind of can't wait to fast again next week and see if it's easier!!

Sass, sorry about all your woes. No sleep and feeling sick is no fun!!!

DCKMB, nice work on the impromptu fasting!

Well, I made it the last few hours last night, actually until a half-hour past the 24 mark! (Not by choice, that's just when we got home from Kylie's soccer practice...) The roast pork, artichoke and green beans with bacon were all SO GOOD!!

Today I have noticed a lack of hunger, maybe from the fasting, and, I'm down another pound, so that makes about 9 total since I started just over a month ago!

B: three sausage links, coffee, bit of heavy cream (supposed to be on no dairy, but out of coconut cream. What's a girl to do?)
L: taco salad with no shell, shredded chicken, guacamole, sour cream. Yum... Did have a bite of Kylie's beans. Water.
S: Coffee, with more heavy cream. (Kinda tired today, don't know if that's leftover from fasting or just from life in general).
D: Maybe grilled burgers? Don't know. DH has been sickish, so I don't know if I want to bother making much if he's not really going to be eating it. Kylie also asked for pizza yesterday though and we didn't have time.

OK, off to do dishes (again, already? Didn't I just wash all these same dishes yesterday? LOL.) and make some almond bread.

Nope. If there is a natural disaster (ie it rains for more than one full day here in Seattle, then the dam holding the water back from the Green River will flood the river's flood banks), THEN I will be working from home.

Company is working on getting me a laptop ASAP. It would be good AND bad, in that the company will lose money and much of the South-Seattle area will be devastated, as will many of our local farmers :-(

But....that will mean that I can save on daycare and gas! I hope that for everyone else's sake, that it's a mild winter. But, should anything happen, it would be a bitter-sweet blessing for me.

Sassy, I thought you were working from home now? So sorry you are still feeling crappy.

Well, I have still not eaten lunch. I think I'm going for an impromptu IF !! Testing blood sugar every 2 hours to make sure and it's at 93 right now. Will check one more time before I head home and then eat dinner about 5pm. That will make a 9 hour IF.

Sofi, that's admirable. 24 hrs is tough when your body's not up to the challenge, for whatever reasons.

DCKMB, that's awesome that DH is doing so well. He's in the middle of his own personal learning curve.

I haven't eaten in over 48 hrs, so my last post, 2 days ago is current. I DID, however, make up a primal pizza for the 3 yr old yesterday and I shoved down 3 pieces before I went into total sodium shock!

Today I ate around 11 am, if you call a spinach-protein-coconut-oil shake 'eating'.

I have some grass-fed pemmican, eggs, nitrate-free/ uncured bacon & Canadian bacon in my under-the-desk fridge here at work, but I'm trying to work up an appetite.

This whole 'sick' deal has me out of sorts. A friend pointed out that my lack of sleep has probably left me open for sickness. Sigh....I just can't get enough time in my day. If I workout, it has to be in the AM, which means that I have only 30 minutes to spend with hubby before I have to hit the sack!

My commute is killing my sleep :-(

It's lunch time and I'm not hungry. Do I eat anyway or wait? Blood sugar is a stable 105 so I think I'm going to wait and see what happens...

great job, sofia!

DH ended with 68 carbs yesterday. He was so excited because he thought he was at 11 but then when he put his food into fitday he realized the 2 bananas he had put him over 50. He was so shocked. Said that was a real eye opener.

Today I've got eggs, canadian bacon, coconut oil, hamburger/tomato/pickle/bacon concoction, maybe a little cheddar on that, apple, more of the same for dinner.

Some kind of hike when I get home from work.

Dude at work stopped by and said that he just bought a pair of vibrams. SO JEALOUS. I can't even stand it.

I love knitting, Hanna, but haven't done it in ages! I really should make some cute stuff for my girls this winter. I seem to go through my craft "fads" - most recently, it has been scrapbooking, but actually lately, I am most obsessed with reading about nutrition!

I wish I had done better after breaking my fast, and I am kinda kicking myself over it, but it was a learning experience. At any rate, I am sure I didn't eat enough to totally ruin my fast (like I didn't eat an entire day's worth of food), so maybe I didn't do THAT much damage. I am surprised at how difficult it was to fast, actually. Given that I have been eating primally for 3 months now and did 2 carnivore days in a row before fasting - you would think my body would be on auto pilot fat burning machine and I should have been able to coast. Maybe most of my problem was just the lack of coffee (I am a huge addict).

Also, I am wondering if maybe next time it would be easier to eat breakfast and then start a fast until breakfast the next day. My biggest worry there is getting a good night's sleep, but it seems if I can get to sleep, that would be an easier fast. I dunno. I might try it next time.
