Made some cashew butter today! Its pretty good!!! I got some raw cashews and lacto-fermented them, (aka put them in yogurt maker with some whey I had saved and covered with water, let sit for 18 hrs at about 112F) then roasted them in the oven. I think my poor piddley little food processor couldnt handle it though, as I never quite got to the "buttery" stage. Close though! And oh so good. I need a real beast of a processor for this.

Hammertime... totally jealous of your travelling!!!

I went on a 3 week whirlwind student tour of british isles when I was 19 and it was such a great experience to see other places and see how other people live. i think you learn more from that than college! :-)

Besides, trust me, you can always go back at some point if you feel you need/want to!!

Yay. I am so glad it is working. I am trying to find castor oil but it wasnt in the grocery store. I am going to try walgreens. I am going to order the brush online.

I went to India as a part of a trip through SE Asia, I went to Thailand, Vietnam, India and Nepal. I spent a year in Costa Rica when I was 16, a summer in Europe when I was 18 and the 6 months in Asia when I was 19 and then Cape Town for three months when I was 23. All of that is over now. No money for trips. I am so glad I did it but I had to make sacrifices. I didn't really go to college because working for money to travel was a full time job and sometimes I really wish I had more than my associates degree. It may not have been the most responsible decision. :) I loved it though...very much.

Hmmm... yeah I'm thinking of doing the full fat cream in my green tea in the mornings (now that I gave up the evil diet soda). usually i don't do breakfast until around 9:30 or 10. I'm thinking if I add in the full fat cream, I can cruise until lunchtime... usually around noonish. Id rather do that, then eat when I get home at 4:30 or 5. Im trying to work it to two meals and a snack if'n I feel like it.

Not sure I'm up to butter in the tea yet, but may try it!!

Lol I love how you write Tara, I can read your journal all day. :) have you ever considered Aloe? not that you need it if the oil cleansing is working... I use EVOO to remove eye makeup... super cheap and easy... also i have done an egg wash mask that has pretty much rocked...

I WANT TO GO ON VACATION! Super jealous of you and of hammer, I have been to the bahamas but there isn't really a huge culture difference there, at least where I was. Oh well. One day I spose.

Anywho, keep being awesome... and writing in fascinating ways... :) You keep me entertained while I am between jobs.

The oil cleansing is working!!! I will use reg soap every 4 days or so and that seems to be just the thing. 25% castor oil, 25% almond oil, 50% EVOO. I use a few drops as a facial moisturizer after cleansing, after the shower, after anything really. My skin feels wayyyyy better. I do have a couple "leprosy lesions" right now, but its right where I touch my face ALL the time. It used to be worse though, so SUCCESS.

The India thing is so cool!!! Why did you go to India? Where else have you been?

Also last night I had a dream about going on some crazy weird adventure through buildings and meadows and lakes and shite. At one point we were up to armpits in lake! Then were were (totally dry) in a building and I was doing something but not really participating. I think I had been CHOSEN not to participate b/c I was not a runner or something (Im going to guess this exclusion is analogous to a job I didnt get and felt like crap about a couple moths ago. Assholes.) Well anyway someone needed to go back for something and I volunteered. I get the feeling that people said I couldn’t do it but then I started running back. And running and running. Long strides, lift with the thighs... just running. Like I used to. And I felt exhilarated and not tired at all. Everyone was amazed but I knew I could do it.

This is just how I used to run when I was fit. And now I can’t. IT HURTS to start over. Physically and mentally. See, I know I can do this and I expect my body to react this way and then it just… doesn’t. I get so tired and sore and I feel like I am carrying bags of rocks all over me. I hate it.

To India? Yes. Loved it. Do you put stevia or anything in your butter tea?

Did you write in this journal how the oil cleansing went? I am looking into doing gentle dry skin brushing and oil cleansing. That or Dr. Mercolas skin care. I am curious about your success...or lack thereof.

HFS= Health food store.

I believe you are referring to yak butter tea! I tried to make it once with regular butter and it was okay. Heavy on the salt. Now I just add a little salted butter to mine for a "lighter" version. Lighter in flavor, dont really care about the fat, lol. Did you travel there?!

Ooooh that sounds so beautiful!!! Maba you must post pics! I would love to be a part of it, by commenting on all the pics, hehe.

The market is indoor so its year round. The veggie vendors come out in force in the summertime so its indoor/outdoor then I suppose.

The cream I got at WF is not raw, its minimally pasteruized and unhomogenized. Its illegal to sell it in OH. I had to get a herd share to get my 100% raw cream!

The market sounds fabulous Tootie, I'd love to visit it. Is it an all-year-round market or a seasonal one? And the cream in WF, was it carrageenan-free? I have access to raw milk but I can't find raw-cream anywhere. Sounds like you both had an awesome day.

You'd asked me about this ritual on FNW's blog - it's something we are planning to have. If we have it, FNW wanted to see the pics. It's called "Sreemantham", a Hindu ritual prevalent in Southern India, where the mom-to-be is offered glass bangles (a symbol of auspiciousness) and her hair is adorned with fresh flowers. It's usually done later in the pregnancy, so mine will probably be around the 8th month. It's a fun ritual and all the guests (usually only ladies) are given goody bags filled with glass bangles, sweets etc.

Had a GREAT day yesterday. I went and visited HannahC and we totally had a blast. Im not really a writer but I will try to sum up the day for you all. See Hannah's journal for a way better and more narrative account, lol.

1hr20min drive listened to the new Motion City Soundtrack CD (3,5,6,7,11 = faves).

When I got there I was accosted by her pups (4!). They were super sweet and after a few mins all very cuddly. I normally get a little frazzled around big dogs b/c mine is SO little but I loved hers! They are all pretty calm, mostly. We were going to go to the park and go on a walk but we had to nix that b/c the weather was super craptastic.

We then jetted off to a sweet market where we probably took waaaay longer than she is used to. This was due to me wanting to look at every miniscule detail the market had to offer. I hav a vlast at the spice place and Hannah was patient with me wanting to smell like 349750234607 spices. I got something called “Grains of Paradise” that tastes like floral mild peppercorns. I mean… Grains. Of Paradise. How could I not? Also got a really yummy Cajun blend. I have some chicken wings marinating in it right now, for dinner tomorrow or the next day. Got Sumac and Za’tar and Minty meat blend and Ras el Hanout and Long pepper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_pepper). I will admit I had a delicious Greek walnut cookie b/c I had never seen one before (only read about them). Hannah was good and didn’t have one, but I couldn’t pass it up. I wanted an effin’ pickle from a place that made lots of marinated things but they didn’t come over so eh. I also got some Chorizo and Linguisa (aka Linguiça). Im excited about the sausages!!! That market was super cool. Thanks Hannah for being so patient!

Go to whole foods where I see chia seeds that look less expensive than the ones I get so I whip out my phone and call my local health food store… WF: $0.87/oz, HFS: $1.78/oz. WTF? I guess sometimes WF=/= Whole Paycheck! Score. She showed me to the dairy section and the cream she buys to make butter sometimes, and the coconut oil and the WALL of dried things and grains. I sampled a raw cashew, and I liked it! I don’t have a WF local, so I get raw cream from a herd share and coconut oil from the HFS (which, btw is cheaper than WF in this case so we were pricing them out). The cashew bit is pretty amazing b/c I HATE cashews. But I’ve never tried a raw one and I liked it. So, excited b/c they have a better O3:O6 ratio than a lot of nuts. I will be buying raw cashews from now on I suppose. I am still mad that I didn’t pick up the goat milk butter I saw though. I can get it here I think, so I will have to look. Ooo I also picked up fresh turmeric root, b/c lets face it… that’s just cool.

Go back to her place where she makes almond butter (OMG GOOD). She’s lucky I didn’t steal it, lol. Kidding Hannah! We proceed to make Cumin/lime tilapia and coconut crusted shrimp and mango salsa (another “OMG GOOD” situation). That’s where the pics tell the tale so Ill leave that to her. She shows me the freezer full of beef and bags and bags of bones and fat. I must admit to jealousy there!

Her hubs is super cool too, just all around sweet people! He went out to get eggs from the chickens where I was able to see these huge double-yolked eggs I keep reading about! Owie indeed.

I am sure I am forgetting something but I am not a patient person and all this typing is getting on mah nerves, so Ill let Hannah fill in the rest.

I’m going to now go and eat a coconut bar she sent me home with, om nom nom.

Hannah thanks for being a great hostess!

Mind games with yourself is just awful! Cuz you win.. AND lose! :-)

Yeah... I used to dance more and had super powerful legs. My hub and I used to wrestle and I could wrap my legs around his torso and pin his arms and he couldn't get out. And he's a big guy with strong arms! It was awesome!

Now I'm all rolly, and stuff. Yuck!!!!

Cool on the jobs, T... nice to have a choice! I finally got hired full time from temp, decent pay and good hours. Will work out well when I start the master's program in the summer.

I just keep thinking:

"You used to be easier and lighter to move around"
and
"You used to be more flexible"
and
"You used to be SO POWERFUL and now youre like a noodle. A fat noodle."

LOL. Like my mind knows what I want and expects (bc it used to get it) it then my body doesnt match and its super confusing.

Do you yell at yourself too? I always feel so silly about it, but it helps. I guess if I can't have a personal trainer yell at me, I might as well do it myself.

LOL.. when it rains it pours!! So what kinds of jobs if you don't mind my asking?! Funny how you can go so long and then all of a sudden they all come through...

Cool on the walk. I feel you on the fitness. I do my dance classes twice a week, but getting in the other stuff is harder! I'm working on it, but it will take time I think... and I'm okay with that!!
