I chose not to have the fruit and cheese after all. Went to bed at a decent time instead.

Over 2000 cals yesterday! I can't believe it! 0.2 lbs loss! I've been reading my fitday goofily (is that a word?) My carbs were 56.6. I told a friend I was running about equal protien and carbs. I'll have to get back to her about that.

Thankfully, I was able to listen to the Mark's broadcast about 20 reasons why we might not be losing weight.

More than 120g of protein will turn into glucose which will raise insulin levels. Hmm, oops. Also, diet sodas create a phantom insulin response...again, oops. My quest for sub 10% bodyfat may be easier and quicker with this knowledge. Oh, man I hope so. I feel stuck and I really needed this today.
I've been feeling rundown and thought a cold was coming on (tight chest & dry cough) so I stayed home today and am fasting. Should be a 24 hr fast to let my body fight the business on the inside and not have to work on processing food. I really need to get back into the gym after 2 days off which weren't planned. I'm REALLY looking forward to living a normal life after this competition. My big treat is going to be cut up fruit with heavy whipped cream ~ I'm so freaking excited for that!!! Glorious!

Now I'm headed to fitday.com to figure out what to eat tomorrow to keep my insulin down and my fat burning up!
Yowza!

I'm with a couple others. Nothing. The origins of the holiday are ... iffy at best. But really seems like an excuse to get drunk because some Irishmen get drunk? That really doesn't make a lot of sense since it's an American holiday. Plus, all those stereotypes. I have redhair and I honestly hate going out on this day due to all the comments I get about luck o' the Irish and so on.

CB&C is definitely an Irish-American thing. St. Patrick's Day for Irish-Americans has to do with sentimental immigrant nostalgia for Ireland as it was when our ancestors came over, typically 100-150 years ago - famine food and all. It's also an excuse to get smashed in the middle of Lent. ;) For all that, my mother used to say that it was the one day of the year she was ashamed to be Irish, because people acted like such idjits.

Today... nothing. Sent my boys to a new home, made some sausage patties and broccoli (hey, that's green) and self-medicating with chocolate.

My family does to a big St Patty's dinner every year, which is going to be Saturday. Corned beef, cabbage, various root veggies, potatoes. I'll do everything but the taters. I'm making some pistachio pudding this year instead of the boxed stuff. Guess what the base ingredient is.

Avocado. ;)

Right there with you AllbeefPatty, special sauce. I can't remember the rest but I have a 4.5 month old so expenses definitely come into play. We could get together and talk about our experiences, whats worked for us, what hasn't. Maybe we'll find someone with a new type of recipe to try, different exercises or whatever. Any suggestions?

Wow... I never realized how Pagan Jews are. Very cool!

I like your ritual. My UU Church is doing "a recitation of the UU Hagaddah, based on the Jewish Passover Seder." We're also doing a meal to remember our ancestors "who struggled with oppression and a search for religious freedom." (Quoting from our calendar.) I'm curious to see what it's all about. I started attending this church to broaden my spiritual experience. They're trying to broaden my politics too, unfortunately, but some of the religious education is pretty interesting. :)

I've been working on spring cleaning and when that's done I'll do a cleansing. Typical sage smudge, some pine cones in the fireplace, and once I take the plastic off the windows the wind chimes are going up.

I've also gotta give my altar a good cleaning and cleanse some of my stones.

Ostara is this weekend. My family is doing St Patrick's Day dinner on Saturday, then on Sunday I'm attending a friend's open circle. I used to be in the Coven, but they're Irish tradition and I'm very set in my Roman ways. It'll be a fun time getting to visit some other Pagans. I haven't seen these friends in a long while.

Unsure if I'm going to do a personal ritual of any kind for Ostara. I do have some spellwork to do. Next weekend the Full Moon is coming up, as is my birthday. I have some things in mind for that as well. :)

Right now though, it's a matter of getting the house (and car) into ship shape.

I celebrate new moons---the Hebrew 'Rosh Chodesh' which has traditionally been a woman-focused ritual. And I use the Hebrew calendar, which is lunar, so the new moon, which was Monday night, was the first 'day' of the Hebrew month Nisan.

Since this is the month that Passover falls in, the ritual I did for this Rosh Chodesh was to prepare myself spiritually for the re-enactment of leaving slavery and becoming free. So I wrote down everything I want to leave behind on a piece of paper, and I burnt it. (There was a lot more to the ritual, including casting a circle, grounding, wearing a prayer shawl I crocheted for myself, saying prayers to God/dess in Hebrew, etc., but burning the paper was the high point.)

I guess you could say I am a practicing solitary Jewitch...:)

I'm a firm believer in things happening because of a fervent open request and a strong desire. There have been several times in my own life this has happened.
I have had depression my whole post- puberty life. [WARNING FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T STAND DARK IDEAS] My variation of this disease makes you suicidal and see methods of suicide in everything, if I'm not on my thyroid meds. For example, even if I'm feeling pretty good that day, Ican see an industrial fan and start thinking about all the ways I could kill myself with it, even if I wasn't suicidal before that point. And I can be very persuasive to myself. One point, when I was 17, I took a knife from the kitchen drawer and sat with it, looking at my wrist. Right as I was a bout to do it, my best friend called. He talked me out of it. I bear a small scar on that wrist to this day to remind me of that. [END DARK IDEAS]
My grandmother has a variation of cancer that has 75% death rate for the first round and very, very, few people survive to even have a third round. It's come back to my grandmother 7 times now and she's still alive and feisty as always. The family all attribute it to her will to live until she gets a great grandchild and the prayers, wishes, and hopes we all sent out into the Great Unknown, be it to a God, a Goddess, or just the good side of the universe.
When I was in college, I dated a very emotionally and verbally abusive man. Right as I was making plans to follow him to San Antonio for my schooling, I very distinctly heard this STOP. It was one in the morning and I was alone in my room. I went to find out what was going on and the TV came on to an old western with john wayne movie, not on the channel I left it on. (This a signal from my grandfather. Right after he died, this happened about once a month to everyone in the family after he passed on. He loved John Wayne flicks and was an urban cowboy.) I took the hint and stopped. The next day, my other best friend met me and convinced me of the abuse. 2 weeks later, the abusive man dumped me for another abusive man.
At my wedding, we had a row of empty chairs behind the immediate family chairs. These were seats to represent those who had passed on or could not make it for health reasons. As we walked back down the aisle, I physically saw my grandmother and grandfather who had passed on in those chairs. On the tape, as we walk by that row, it seems like there's a mist over just that row.

This isn't all of it, but it's enough to convince me that there's SOMETHING out there. He/She/ It/ They? I hadn't gotten that far and really don't care. I just know that the Universe and my two guardian angels look after me.

Im a believer (not fan of labels) when I was a kid I was a really sick child, had my bouts with a form of leuchemia and pneumonia for most of my early childhood, I wont get much into details but one night my mom crying said, "Please save my son God, please".. So next day we went to San Diego so american doctors could take a look at me. The Dr. looks at me, frowns a bit and says..."I dont know why are you making me waste time with this perfectly healthy boy".

Havent been sick since.

I believe in God, a God that trascends religion (wich for the most part their spokers are making a great job of keeping people out of it) many call him Buddah, Alah, Abba, Jesus, Earth, Wicca, etc. you call it as you wish, my wish is that may he(or she) protect you and may watch over you for ever.

Best regards.

Your location: Birmingham, Alabama
Age (If you want): 28
How Primal are you: Hmmm... 70%? Exercise is very primal. No grains, no sugar. But, I love tofu, and have a weakness for diet coke and sugar free gum. And a cup of coffee every morning.
Do you consume dairy: Yes, but not often (I can't eat fruit and cottage cheese / yoghurt is good for some carbs)
Do you drink coffee or tea: Just one coffee
Motivator for switching to Primal: Desire for visible abs!
Favorite exercise: Dancing
Favorite Primal food: Steak!
Best part about being Primal: Feeling great, huge amounts of energy, never feeling guilty about what I eat, people describing my body as 'sick' (yeah, I am vain)
Worst part about being Primal: None! Ever! Seriously...

Age (If you want): 37
How Primal are you: about 90%
Do you consume dairy: Only a little whole milk with first cup of coffee
Do you drink coffee or tea: Coffee & Green Tea
Motivator for switching to Primal: Looking to overall feel better. Far too many years of processed over carb'd foods made me think there has to be a better way.
Favorite exercise: Light running, weights
Favorite Primal food: Eggs for breakfast & Steak for Dinner
Best part about being Primal: Increased energy and more aware of what I put in my body and its reaction.
Worst part about being Primal: Do miss taste of cheese from time to time.

Primalwannabe. I commend you for your efforts. I couldn't imagine how difficult things can become at any moment. I hope nothing but the best for you and your family. I volunteer at the special olympics here in Atlanta every year and I have to admit I have never found so much joy and love outside of my own family. Grok on with your bad self and get that foot healed up.

Your location: Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico :)

Age : 27

How Primal are you: 85-90% I use a cheat day (in moderation) for blowing some steam, all though as I venture into this journey I have found myself less and less inclined to keep doing so.

Do you consume dairy: Yeahp, mostly Organic cheese "Real de castillo". At some yogurt at times.

Do you drink coffee or tea: Nop, want to try green tea but im too sensitive to caffeine.

Motivator for switching to Primal: Getting my act together, just move from my parents house and decided to be free of the things that are holding me down, my weight for the most part, used to be morbidly obese and now im just obese, I want to look great, but feel better.

Favourite exercise:sprinting.

Favourite Primal food: Chicken/steak.

Best part about being Primal: Feeling like a kid again, feeling closer to earth, to nature, sounds goofy but there's kind of an avatar feeling in me now lol!..

Worst part about being Primal: Nothing really, maybe the limited choice of foods that are available in my town, most notorious grass fed beef :(

Hi all, I have been lurking for quite a while. I am just now learning how to incorprate the PB into our daily lives (with young kids). I look forward to learning more and getting lean.

Thanks,

First, I want to develop the mental and physical stamina to take get my two special needs teenagers though this rocky, difficult transition to adulthood without getting ill or losing my mind.

Second, I want to be able to keep up with my local hiking group. (Once my &^%/! broken foot heals!).

Third, someday, as an old lady (when my kids are either independent or in appropriate residential settings) I want to hike the Appalachian Trail. Then maybe across America. (For now, across my little town would be an acheivement.)
