Migraines related to menstruation
My 14 year old daughter had her first migraine today :(
There is a family history. My sister and mother had them for a long time, starting as teens. I've only had a handful (when I was much younger), but for all of us it seems related to our cycles.
My daughter eats paleo except for one square of 90% chocolate a day. No grains of course and she eats very healthy paleo, no paleo baked goods or anything, just meat, veggies, healthy fats (we mostly cook with coconut and she uses olive on her daily salad), some fruit, sweet potatoes, eggs. No nuts because she has braces.
I know chocolate can be a trigger but since there is a family history, I'm thinking it's much more likely that it's hormonal, not food.
Does anyone here have any tips for someone who is already a very healthy eater who is suffering from hormonal migraines? It's not like we can (or should) stop her hormones so I'm not sure what to do to prevent this from happening again.
