Another plane thing. Geez.

Question: Why do freakin’ vegan chefs compete on Chopped? Every basket has an animal protein. They make me roll my eyes so hard that I fear my eyes will fall into the back of my head, down into my digestive system, and out my ass. “I hope you’ll let me continue on so I can show you what I can do with vegetables.” Really? Because you didn’t show us jack shit in the first round. And you almost always get chopped in round one. :p
One of the neat things about having vegetables fermenting in one’s kitchen is that you always have vegetables on hand to add to any given dish. For a single person who’d rather not eat frozen veggies all the time, this is a big deal. I know that next time I go to the market, I’ll be looking at the veggies with an eye to fermenting them. I may even buy the occasional carrot. I never buy them because they go bad before I can use them. But sticking them in salt water to ferment and preserve them means I can use a little at a time and they won’t go rotten.
I think this is hilarious.
The titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum) at the United States Botanic Garden Conservatory finally started blooming and stinking like rotting flesh on Sunday around 4 p.m.
It may remain in bloom for 24 to 48 hours, and then it will collapse quickly.
The plant, which has lived at the garden since 2007, doesn't have an annual blooming cycle. This is its first-ever cycle, and dedicated fans might wait years or decades between cycles.
Nothing I could write could improve that…

It’s alarming that it happens so often that we keep records. I believe if you google, you can also find out how many people annually cut their hands while cutting a bagel.
Yesterday’s food: Fried green tomatoes. Sardines and salsa. Anchovies. Some flank steak stir fried with cabbage, onions, and coconut aminos. No coffee. (Not trying to quit totally, just trying to make it a treat rather than a daily necessity.)
