that one?
umm.. I'm starting to consider whey protein even though I've always been all for whole foods... is there any reason why I should consume it though?
That's the one.
Honestly, I keep it on hand for when I'm running short of $$ for good meat and tinned sardines are getting a bit long in the tooth. It helps me keep my protein up without breaking the bank.

Does it actually work? I'm a bit skeptical about powders hahaha.
Hey that buybulkwhey.com looks good too. How does the plain one taste, hue?

It helps me keep my protein up when meat is scarce or when I just feel like doing massive protein to shake things up. More than that, don't know. For example, I'm in no place to judge mass gain, as I am part of the fat loss brigade. I will say this: I was using whey protein while losing weight last year--this year, I've been plateaued :-( --so it did not halt fat loss.
[Now I wonder if adding whey back in should be my next n=1 (after the no cow dairy experiment)...hmmm]

Same here. I have whey about 3 times a week to save money and to use as a quick meal. I enjoy making smoothies and often add whey for the protein.
I have been using Well Wisdom's Vital Whey for more than a year now and LOVE it! It's a non-denatured grass-fed, all natural, non-gmo whey protein. The one I use, Vital Whey Natural, has one ingredient...whey protein concentrate. In my opinion you won't find a higher quality wp anywhere! You can check them out at Grass Fed Whey Protein and Natural Whey Protein Powder | Well Wisdom. The website contains a TON of great information too.
Good Luck!
I really like Jay Robb for the simple fact that it's made with stevia.
Isopure goes down super smooth, but it does have a non Primal ingredient list. Dymatize is also tasty. They have an extended release formula now, too.
For the cheapest whey isolate - Amazon.com: Now Foods Whey Protein Isolate Unflavored, 10 lbs: Health & Personal Care  $89.63 for 10 lbs
For the least expensive grass fed 90% whey isolate - comes out to about $14/lb more or less, depending on quantities purchased. This product is quite fine, silky smooth & FRESH, as it comes from a small farm in a coveted dairy producing valley in Wisconsin.
This is what I buy when I have time to wait for it to be shipped & the extra expense is not an issue.
Edit: Well ok, I stand corrected, https://www.buybulkwhey.com/ has bulk 10 lbs for $60.75
but it shows these nutritional #s:
Sugars 3g
Protein 24 g
...whereas the 80% concentrate & 90% isolate I get from www.purebulk.com each shows 0g sugar.

ON Gold Standard Natural. No artificial sweeteners, and it tastes vaguely like brownies.
The vitacost store brand is dirt cheap and has good ingredients, but tastes kind of like a moldy anus.
