Looking at the pics Misabi just posted, you definitely look like you'd be in between the 15% and the 18%. Are you aiming for a specific body fat percentage, anyway? You look good and you feel good, so I don't think you should be thinking about it much!
A key point to note from that Leigh Peele article:
"There is currently no definitive answer for what is essential body fat. Looking at research though we assume a range of 5% for men and 12% for women is landing in the essential range. For hormonal and reproductive reasons women need to store a higher level of body fat than men. It is thought that 15% is the lowest range a women should maintain. There is some argument about this, but technically the data isnít there to conclude if it is body fat or lifestyle/training habits that cause problem. In my personal opinion, I think women should tread lightly trying to maintain body fat levels below 15%."
I dunno, I didn't really think that my bodyfat percentage was that low. I used an electronic handheld bodyfat calculator, so I didn't do any measuring, personally. The bodpod said that at a "normal" range, my body fat is 14.5% and at an "athletic" range, I am 16.5%. I don't know what that means, really. I just know that at one point, my body fat was extremely low, like 5-6%, so I made it a habit to keep track of it to see how things were going with my recovery. Honestly, I was just curious at this point, and then surprised that my scale weight and body fat were lower than I'd expected. I'm not aiming for a particular percentage, really, and I wouldn't mind staying at this percentage, or even getting to 18-20%. So, idk, I'm not worried about it, unhappy with it, or trying to lose any more fat. It was just an updated observation on my physical stats. :D
Monday, July 8
Slept terribly last night, went to bed around 3am, didn't fall asleep for a while. Woke up every couple hours until I got up at 11am, then laid in bed till noon.
Vit D - 4000IU
Mag C - 960mg
Aloe - 2 Caps
Digest Gold - 3 caps
Gelatin - 2 envelopes
Push Day, plus an easygoing outdoor walk.
B: Coffee, almond milk, stevia. Gelatin, almond milk, cocoa powder, stevia, sugar.
S: 1 banana, 2 corn cakes.
L: 4oz. sirloin steak, 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 10g provolone cheese. 1/2c pineapple juice.
S: 2 corn cake thins, 4 almonds, blueberries, 2/3 peach (1/3 of it was bruised/moldy). Cuppa with almond milk.
D: 6oz. 2% greek yogurt, cocoa powder (maybe some Vega protein if I feel like it)
Drinks: coffee, almond milk, yerba mate, perrier, lime juice, sleepy tea, pineapple juice, a sip of coke.
Cravings: after my workout, I really wanted meat. Steak, sushi, a burger, some BBQ ... it all sounded good. Lucky me, I had meat in the fridge!
Calories: haven't counted yet because I know I'm not done eating for the night lol. Haven't had dinner yet, but it'll probably end up around 1200-1300.
Skin: Improving, no new marks.
Body: Hamstring muscles, hip joint, and feet are sore. Also, body dysmorphia is weird. I looked at myself in the mirror today and thought I looked scrawny! That's a new one.
Digestion: Felt a little rumbly after the eggs, but my stomach has been impressively flat for a while now. Crossing my fingers that this is a lifelong trend.
Energy: In the garbage after my workout, today. And then, after the walk, I was totally dead! I even took a short nap after I got home from the gym, but I think it only made me more tired.
Other: Boobs feel more firm. It may be my imagination, but they feel fuller, too. Maybe they're just swollen from the excessive massaging, though.
Today was really boring, but I guess I was just sort of restless. I wanted to do something, but there was nothing to do, but I didn't want to move a lot really, buuut it didn't matter because there was no reason to move :P haha. I mean, I could have done some chores around the house, but I really just didn't feel up to it. It sucks, though, because I haven't felt like cleaning much lately, anyway. I've just been doing the absolute bare minimum. I think I get discouraged because I feel like as soon as I clean something up, the cats or my bf will fuck it up immediately. This is gross, but I tediously swept, mopped, and totally cleaned the basement really nicely. That's where we keep the litter boxes, so it can get pretty gnarly. Well, not even a day after I did that, the cat had ... uhm... stomach issues ... and it was really disgusting. I had to clean the whole thing again the next day, and then about a week later, the cats decided there needed to be litter everywhere! Endless. Also, there are always ashes everywhere from cigarettes, and it always smells bad because of the smoke. No matter how much I clean, this place never seems to improve. Uuuuggggggghhhhhhh. Rant over. I guess it's a good thing that this is the extent of my complaints today. Which leads me to the QOTD!
How often do you clean? Do you enjoy cleaning, and do you only pick up after yourself, or do you have to clean up after other people? What is your most favorite, and least favorite house chore? Exciting stuff, oh yeah.
I really don't think you are more than 18% - probably less because you have more muscle than that model.
Crap! You just reminded me that I have to clean the litter box... haha. Re: QOTD, I hate admitting this, but I actually really enjoy doing dishes. It... soothes me? But that is the extent to which I enjoy cleaning. I only clean out of necessity (hair all over the floor, bathtub starting to look gross) and if I didn't have a housemate whom I didn't want to piss off, I wouldn't pick up after myself either.
I also love doing the dishes. Im a neat freak so i make sure the kitchen is always sterile and dishes are spotless. The rest of the house i dont really give a shit. Im also a minimalist though so theres not much to get dirty or messy besides clothes and kids toys. I also love mowing the lawn, its perfect for an OCD mentality.

Ah, gotcha. Those things measure the resistance to the current from the device passing from one hand through the body and or if the other hand back to the device. I've read that they can be pretty inaccurate and give varying results depending on how hydrated/dehydrated (as it measures the total weight of water in the body, which is the used to calculate the lean body mass and fat%), often underestimating the bf%.
I clean a lot when I'm back home. I clean up after everrryyoone (and we're a big family). Mostly just because they'll be like 'oh i'll clean my dishes in a little bit' and i'll see them lying around and do them. But that's out of habit and because i really dislike sitting in messy places, lol.
My favorite is doing the dishes, least favorite is mopping stuff up.
P.S. not to go against what you're saying Misabi, but in a lot of cases those handheld BF monitors over estimate. Or at least that's what's happened with a lot of the people i know. They'd test it with one of those, then get tested (some with the super duper expensive testing and some with calipers) and their BF % would be a fair amount lower than the handheld's reading.
But they do underestimate in some, and they're pretty accurate in some. You neverrr know. Use the mirror or how your clothes fit, since you don't actually need to worry, Ci.
Yeah, those hand-held things are pretty worthless. The absolute numbers they give you don't mean much, but the trend is usually accurate (so if it shows your BF% going up or down, then it probably is increasing or decreasing).
I had a real bod pod measurement done a few months ago. I went to one of the universities around here that has an exercise physiology department with one of those bod pods. It only cost $35. The girl who took my measurement helpfully informed me that I can take $5 off every time I go back so the next time it'll be $30. I'm still waiting to lose some more weight before going back.
I wish I had a more accurate way of knowing what my real body fat percentage is, but ... all's I know is that I gained approximately 10% of pure fat in the past 7 months. So, ~12lbs of fat gained, which sounds really gross! But, then I also gained 14lbs of muscle, I guess, too. But that can't be right because I'm sure that I have to take fluids into account. Bah. I dunno. I got stronger. I got fatter. I'm pleased with myself, and I really do just find myself not freaking out over it any more. ^__^ It's not like I'm trying to be in a swimsuit competition! lol!
As far as cleaning goes.... you guys can do my dishes any day :D haha. I'll cook amazing food for you, though! Y'all inspired me to do a bit of cleaning today, so I mopped up some things here and there. It's really not so bad to clean, it's just getting around to making yourself do it. I think I talk myself out of doing laundry more than I do working out :P
