Yay, an up day for me today! I slept MUCH better last night! I did two things...prayed and took a Zyrtek because I felt like my allergies were acting up. Considering the two, I'd say the prayer was what did it...more like begging, but hey, it worked!
I started reading Mosley's 5:2 fasting book last night. Interesting read so far and I think it is something I can incorporate into my life for the rest of what I have left of it. It makes a lot of sense, and if I'm honest, I've had several thoughts of fasting over the last few years...I've just felt like it would be beneficial, but I didn't exactly know why, just that my body seems to defy the norm, and that seemed like something that would benefit me. I get a sort of forced fast when my gastroparesis acts up and even though it's miserable when it flares, I do always feel better after the forced fast. It will be nice to do it on my terms, lol.
And, I'm also down to my low weight again after see-sawing up and down all week. Yay!
So, up day today, and the promise of gluten free pizza at work awaits me at some point:
5:00 am: 1 raw coconut macaroon, 2 cal/mag chewables; 1 commuter mug of bullet proof coffee (2 T butter, 1 T coconut oil and 1 drop of Vit.D3)
7:31 am: 4.5 oz 85% ground beef patty, 2 oz Organic Pastures Raw Cheddar cheese
8:10 am: 2 very small, thin slices of gluten free lemon cake baked by one of my co-workers
12:00 pm: Gluten Free Pizza, 2 slices plus the topping off another slice
[TC]: Undecided...I just know that what I planned will not work because I am stuffed to the gils. I forgot how much I hate this feeling. I'm also feeling like a stuffed sausage which means I'm bloated from all the glute-free carby stuff.
Slept well again last night; what a relief! I am up almost two pounds this morning after my eating fest yesterday. It could also be partly because of the allergy pill I took the last two nights--also probably why I slept better. Today is a down day and so far I've just had two cups of coffee with cream. I'm finally starting to get a little hungry, though I would love to wait to eat a bigger meal later.
5:45 am: large cup of brewed coffee with 2.5 T Organic Pastures Raw Cream
11:30 am: large cup of brewed coffee with 2 T Organic Pastures Raw Cream
3:10 pm: 4 oz chicken liver, sauteed with onion, mushroom and broccoli in 1T of garlic herb butter--also made enough liver to have some a little later if I'm hungry
Went down a bit in weight, but not back to my low yet. Hopefully tomorrow. Today I helped with a church sponsored community project for a few hours. I had a nice big breakfast then met a good friend (who recruited me, lol) for coffee. Our job was to tape lines for a painting project. Two people measured and snapped lines and we followed with various widths of tape. There were several hundred people there today doing various jobs at a local neglected school. Felt good to get out and serve again.
So, today is an UP day and I made good use of it, lol:
5:00 am: Protein shake: 2 scoops of egg white protein powder, 1/2 T unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 T flax seed meal, 1 small banana, slivered almonds, and 3 drops of stevia. I figured I'd go big since I can't seem to eat all of my target calories for an up day and that I wouldn't be eating for a while.
6:45 am: Starbuck's Grande Soy Latte (not primal, but good)
12:30 pm: somewhere around 10 baby carrots and half a package of 365 Turkey Jerky (also not primal I think)
2:30 pm: sauteed (in Kerrygold Garlic Herb butter) onions and mushrooms with chicken liver
5:30 pm: 5 slices thin cut bacon with 2T cream cheese
Developed a bad tummy ache yesterday and I still have it this morning. I'm staying home from work, but mainly because I think it is trapped gas (though it could also be gastroparesis) and sitting at my desk all day won't help. At home I can walk around or lay down as I need to. If it's the gastroparesis, I'll be in pain on the bathroom floor so either way, better to stay home.
It's a down day for me and I think it will be a fairly easy one. No eating. Eating will make things worse...if it's the gastroparesis, my appetite and hunger will go away, if it's just trapped gas, adding more to it will make it worse, lol.
So far today..water. Just sips of water.
I may try a cup of broth in a few minutes.
7:30 am: beef broth
9:00 am: 1 hard boiled egg with salt; a couple of bites of suspect mahi mahi
11:00 am: egg salad (2 eggs)
Gave up totally on my down day...sometimes when my stomach hurts like this, eating makes it worse and sometimes eating helps. Today seemed to be a help day, so no down day.
1:00 pm: Fage FF Greek yogurt with fresh blueberries
4:30 pm: bacon and raw cheddar cheese (don't ask...it's a favorite comfort food from my youth. When I was skinny. And could eat anything.
Feeling better this morning. Still had a stomach ache, but it's slowly going away. Apparently it was more than trapped gas, lol. Almost stayed home again, but I think I'll be okay at work. It's going to be an up day, but will probably keep my calories on the moderate side, though they haven't been that close to my up day "goal" anyway. I was down a bit in weight this morning, and will probably be down tomorrow as well judging by how many times I've visited the ladies room this morning, lol.
4:45 am: 2 raw coconut macaroons, 2 cal/mag chewables; 1 commuter mug of brewed coffee (combo reg/decaf) w/2T cream--only drank half of the coffee...made iced coffee once I got to work
8:00 am: Fage FF Greek Yogurt w/fresh blueberries
11:15 am: Ground beef with a little (probably 1.5 oz) Organic Pastures raw cheddar cheese; tea w/honey
11:50 am: fresh strawberries and a couple of raspberries and blackberries
1:10 pm: tea w/honey--STILL HAVING STOMACH PAINS
[TC]: Eggs and bacon
1 hard boiled egg with salt
egg salad (2 eggs) w/ a few leaves of romaine hearts--STOMACH HURT AFTER EATING THIS
Fage FF Greek yogurt
OMG, my stomach is still hurting and I am definitely having bathroom issues again. I'm wondering if I should do a little n=1 and cut out dairy for a few days. I was thinking it started with the carrots and onions I had on the weekend, but now I'm not so sure. I'm hoping I don't have to do a liquid diet, but that might be my next thing if this doesn't go away soon. I'm pretty sure that's what my doctor would have me do though.
On a happy note, I am down in weight this morning to a new low of 170.8. So at the end of my first month on ADF I've lost 6.8 pounds and ONE inch each off my bust, waist, and thighs and a half inch off each of my hip, calves and arms. And, since starting Primal at the beginning of February I've lost a total of 11.2 and a few more inches. Not bad at all!
So, today is an up day, though I expect it will be lower in calories than normal as I just don't know what to eat to fix the intestinal issue.
5:00 am: 2 raw coconut macaroons; 2 cal/mag chewables; 1 commuter mug of coffee with Organic Pastures raw cream
6:45 am: 3 oz polska kielbasa
11:30 am: 4.5 oz 85% ground beef with 2 oz Organic Pastures Raw Cheddar
[TC]: ?? for dinner--maybe a shake of some sort.
I am still having pain in the abdominal area and watery diarrhea. I'm not sure what is going on, but if it doesn't clear up by tomorrow I am in danger of not being allowed onto a short cruise coming up on Wednesday. Gahhh!!! I'm cooking some rice and chicken right now hoping that that will help.
Well, I'm hoping I am on the mend. I had an immediate loose stool right after (I mean immediately) eating a coconut macaroon, but that was the only one so far. I had a Starbuck's drink and was able to drink that and walk around the neighborhood without spasms or feeling like I had to go. The exact same drink yesterday caused an almost immediate urge to go. I went out and bought some immodium just in case, but I'm thinking I might be okay. I'm able to drink water just fine--it's just anything with "weight". The real test will come in a little while when I eat my chicken and rice.
Great news...though I did go twice after I posted the above, they were not liquid--still loose, but better. And now I've had my chicken and rice about 15 minutes ago and so far I'm good. No spasming and no urges. Happy, happy!!
The chicken and rice sat very well!! Yay. Just had my second meal of rice and mahi mahi so hoping that sits well as well.
Feeling better today. Still have some issues going on, but it's limited to very early morning. I'm up a little in weight today, no doubt because of the steep increase in carbs after being VLC for almost three months.
