I had my company physical yesterday. I overheard one receptionist in the doc's office tell the other "I was bad this morning. I had eggs and sausage."
"No tortillas or biscuit or anything?!"
"Nope. I swear, I'm the worst example of how to eat in this office."
Uhhh....
Let's see. Yesterday in the office a woman brought in cupcakes for the 2 departments that she covers along with pretzel chips and hummus. She doesn't eat the hummus as it has onions in it. I walk by her desk, she has 2 cupcakes, a handful of pretzels and a Slim Fast shake. I shit you not. I try not to think about that or my eye twitches.
Cupcakes, pretzels...and a Slim Fast? The mind boggles.

And you wonder why she's close to 300 lbs. Hell, I am not near goal by any means yet but come on. Get a friggin clue. She offered me a cupcake, knowing fully well I don't eat grains and I said, "I'm not interested in being sick today, thanks but no thanks". People look at me like I'm an idiot(primarily the women) yet the men drool over my lunches. Fairly ironic.
I would guess at least a little of that is because women are supposed to control their appetites and obsess over diets, while men are allowed to openly admit they enjoy food. Some of it is essentially performance of social expectations around eating--I bet a lot of the women are drooling over them too but respond to it by exhibiting disgust instead.

Oh my gosh, I totally remember seeing someone buy a bucket of lard at a store and thinking how ridiculous it was and had images of clogged arteries dancing in my head. Now it's like, "Mmmmm, lard".
