As long as conventional wisdom on how to lose weight has it's head firmly jammed up it's ass, shaming people will accomplish nothing. They'll just go low fat, eat tons of wheat and soy and wonder why they're miserable and not losing weight...

Yes, that's my biggest concern in this, not that fatties might potentially get their wittle feelin's hurt by someone nudging them that being a hambeast is no way to go through life (I knew very well about paleo, my ego couldn't suffer the truth). What if they get directed to shit like veganism, low fat, whole grain and whatever Oz is shitting out this week?
I don't buy it. Obesity is driven by depression, chronic stress, and social pressure. Fat shaming could only exacerbate those things.
Maybe it's time to put a warning on certain processed food-products, like they do on the cigarett cases; "OVEREATING KILLS YOU SLOWLY!" or what about: "THIS FOOD MAKES YOU FAT!" And put on some worst case scenario pictures of morbidely obese persons as well, so everybody can see what may happen...
They would never do that, because you know the processed pre-packaged foods are for the most part : low-fat, limited calorie controlled portion, hearthealthywholegrain containing, etc, etc......On the other hand we have the "fattening" meat, butter, full fat milk and cheeses.
Which ones are more likely to get the warning label? ...Sigh...
Hmmm sounds like the same type of logic that says sawing off both your arms will prevent limping.......

(PS....dosent prevent limping & adds a whole shyteload of new problems)
Another fat-shaming article from a guy that "hate" fat people:

Some people find it EXTREMELY difficult to lose weight, no matter how well they try and eat. Fat shaming does NOTHING for them but make them feel worse about being in a situation they can't change.
The fact is, a fat person who eats a good diet and gets regular exercise will generally be healthier than a thin person who doesn't. So lay off fat shaming and instead encourage everyone to eat well and exercise regularly!!
Shameful paper. Shameful. Shaming humans in any way is a flagrant disregard for humanity and feelings. I've never known these 'bully tactics' to be successful in the long run. Most obese individuals already suffer from too much shame as it is -- do we really need to rub their noses into it?
Signed: Skinny/healthy person
In my experience, the worse people feel about themselves the less likely they are to take care of themselves. So shaming is detrimental, NOT helpful! Terrible idea!!!

Most people criticize and shame others out of their own insecurities. That guy from testosterone nation should be grateful that there are fat people so he can feel better about being a stupid asshole.
