Question on Pet Burgers.....

I was thinking of ordering a few pounds of the US Wellness Pet Burgers and had a few questions. First, how do they taste? Similar to 75% ground beef with a hint of offal? Second, how is the consistency? I've heard rumors that it is a bit rubbery in texture. Third, is there any safety issue? Is the handling or grade of meat different in the "pet" beef vs the for human consumption beef? I'll probably order it anyway, but I just wanted a preview of what I was getting into. Any advice on the best way to prepare it would also be appreciated.

The only thing I'd be concerned about is the quality and handling and possible contamination. Pet food generally isn't nearly cared or as human food. I'd buy the human versions separately and combine them to be on the safe side.

^ this. The FDA are swamped enough about human foods that there is considerably less attention and care paid to the manufacturing and quality of food meant for animal consumption. Unless I'm reading this wrong and you're actually ordering this for a pet. I would think twice about eating pet food, even if it's freshly made...

Word. Not worried. Lots of people eat this and I've heard no complaints.

I believe Paleobird buys it. From US Wellness, I wouldn't worry.

I trust US Wellness Meats' standards of quality control.
