Science Lab!! What if I...__________? MMMMmmmmmmmm!!!!!
Having a wife with a limited palate and 2 kids who are picky ass eaters AND having moved in with the in-laws while my father in law recovers from a stroke i have turned into the short order cook extraordinaire!
I've had to start freezing some of my Paleo recipes. If its not straight meat on the grill no one else eats my dishes?!?
I made a crock pot breakfast pie with eggs, bacon, sausage and shredded yams and onions.
"it reminds me of tofu" WTF?!?!? How can you compare it to tofu.... its got FU@$ING BACON AND SAUSAGE IN IT!!!
(Hug) Sorry to hear that! My family is now Okay with the sweet potato bakes after a few rejects. I make it with quark and maple syrup based off the pre-baked potato. So I know how you feel!
7 people think they are an "Iron Chef"...
Wait, what?!
I mean... I'm not a professional, but I've been cooking entire family meals since I was about 9. And I've had a man stop during a Thanksgiving meal, grab me, and kiss me on the mouth, because of my gravy...
I can cook pretty much anything and make it delicious.
And I chose "My kitchen is a science lab. Wheeeee!"
Primal didn't make me more of a foodie... always been a foodie and great cook.
But people... 7 of you are NOT Morimoto!!! :p
I could not hold myself to that level... nope. I am not an Iron Chief.
Goodness..
Finnegan's Wake is totally an iron chef. I think Canio is too.

Ok... I'll give you Finne.
If he voted that then yeah.
But if 7 other did it... then I think I undersold myself and I want to just make it known that the only reason I didn't is because I was actually comparing myself to the level of the Iron Chefs.
Pre-being all sick I used to get up to Finnegan's Wake type stuff regularly... and master level baking that rocked peoples socks off regularly.
I still have friends mourning my loss from the wheat and baking world... because I used to be a pawner. LOL
I just place shit in the frying pan to see what happens, but I tend to keep it very, VERY simple - maximum of five ingredients, usually very few spices, then abra cadabra and you have a non/edible dish, lol. But I'm rather adventurous with the ingredients as I have begun to experiment with the odd cuts, strange vegetables from the oriental market that I don't know what they do, and offal food.
But yeah, simple. I tend to think of the natural ingredients as plenty tasteful enough. Got a still-warm moose calf liver today - just slice it, throw it in a frying pan for two three minutes, and om nom nom.
Definitely a foodie. I was already into the locavore scene, doing the farmers market thing weekly, and making lots of crazy stuff from scratch, and Primal just took it to the next level, largely because I stopped being concerned about cooking with fat. Butter is my secret culinary weapon.
I love experimenting in the kitchen but I wouldn't say science lab, maybe more artist's studio. I describe foods in terms of balance, darkness versus brightness in flavours, textures, colours...it's a very creative process, but I'm not all that scientific about it. I'm a very intuitive cook.
Cori, I meant it as kind of a slang, not really literally as good as Morimoto (no one is as good as Morimoto, no one). Sort of as in, "there's nothing in the fridge, but I can still make a great meal out of it," or, "all I have is a squash and some eggs, but I can make a meal everyone loves out of it." :)

In that sense... I AM "Iron Chef!" ;)
And no one is Morimoto! *bows at feet*
