Down 10 pounds now. It seems to be fat, not water or muscle. I am getting stronger and could bike uphill in a higher gear last night. My pant legs are loser (most of my weight is hips/thighs at this point).

Sorry, somehow I missed your post otzi, thank you for your reply.
Oh, yes, I do have the Perfect Health Diet/Jaminet; it is the best book on diet/health I believe. I was fascinated for a long time with Kwasniewski's Optimal Diet after following Peter/Hyperlipid and Harris/Acheovore, but I just could not lose any more weight at that point.
I began the potato diet again last Wednesday (did in Oct. and lost 8.2 lbs in 7 days) and I'm losing weight at an acceptable rate. I eat only white potatoes. I have been reading that sweet potatoes are just as effective? and are actually lower in carbs. (I also notice they are higher in sugar) I'm doing fine on the white potatoes but a sweet potato would be a nice change. Any info on this? I don't want to mess up the weight loss just for a change of taste. I'm trying to knock off the last 5 lbs to reach my goal weight and get this over with. I do plan to eat primal for the rest of my life.

I answered you on Nutrition Forum, too, but in thinking a little more, maybe a half a sweet potato a day wouldn't be so bad. Just don't make them the bulk of your day--just a snack.
Hi Rosemary,
Hey, I did about 50/50 with white and sweet potatoes and did just fine.
While I found that the sweet potatoes were tastier (to me) and I could over-eat
them, I also found that when that DID happen, they kept me satiated forEVER.
So for example, I could get hella bored with 300g of white potato at 1pm but then
by four, I'd be ready for more, where with the sweet potato, I could have 500g and
I'd be full until 7.
So calorically it pretty much worked out to be the same with both potatoes.

Hey Julie,
I'm going to do it :) I put on some weight in the last few months and am ready for it to come off.
I read through a bit of this thread, but it's long man! Can you fill me in on what your success was?
YB
Hi!
It was a couple of months ago, but I believe it was 4lbs in 7 days
and super low calorie because potatoes not only turn off the hungry
switch, but they're boring as all get out! Ha!
At least that's how it worked for me. Some people can really go gaga on
potatoes so it didn't work for them.
Good luck!
Julie
otzi, I saw this meme on Facebook and thought of you :D

Too bad the potato diet doesn't include butter... that's the only way I can eat them.
Healthy11 - Richard Nikoley added 1 tsp butter to potatoes and did great.
My daughter is only half-doing the hack because she is in college living in a dorm and she says lunch is impractical. I told her about the rice as being a distant secondary option (per Ray Cronise), so she is having mostly indian food rice curries for lunch from an indian food stand on campus, then mashed potatoes I made for her (fat free, milk free, with chicken broth) for dinner. She is down 12 pounds now after only half-doing this for a few weeks, and lost 5 pounds in the past week with the mashed (she ate the potatoes every night in this past week, where as in previous weeks she sometimes skipped microwave, baked, or crock pot potatoes). The mashed is working really well for her because she wants to eat them. She was doing low carb with no luck (it worked in the past as effortless weight loss, but no more).
She went from 242 to 230 so far (5' 10" and extra large boned and very muscular/athletic like her father). She is 18.
I have taken 9 days off the hack (weekends) plus maybe a half dozen off meals on the on days and am now down to 198 from 213 since January 18 (I'm also 5'10" but med framed and a very poor physical specimen, just turned 48, so I am extremely pleased). Low carb no longer works for me (although I lost @100 pounds on low carb) so I am really happy to have found this.
