Guess you can't call potato chips part of the diet, eh??
Unless you get one of these: Mastrad A64601 Top Chips Maker and Slicer Set: Amazon.com: Kitchen & Dining
Just ate two small russets with a sprinkle of salt + pepper, hot out of the oven. Skin and all. And now my mouth has a chalky feel to it. I normally don't eat russet skins, I'm guessing that's normal? Blek! They sure tasted good at the time. So. full.
Perhaps I am not meant to thrive on this hack? Yesterday in particular I felt quite hungry and quite cold, too. In terms of volume, I seem to be eating a sufficient quantity of food and I definitely feel full (though not stuffed) after finishing my portion, but hunger kicks in after 3 hours (like on CW). As a result, I have to eat 4-5 times a day instead of my usual 2 (and sometimes 3) times. Although the temperature in our house is normal, I felt really cold yesterday in the evening.
For this all, I am rewarded by one miserable pound off on the third day (I started on Sunday). Not impressed - this is still within the range of random fluctuations typical for the female body.
I think I will wait until Friday. If things do not improve, I will quit (and keep my fingers crossed for the rest of you) and return to Whole 30.
Ha ha! I'm in a club and I didn't even know it. Started "Potato Power" yesterday by chance (read about in on Cronise's site.) Found the Otzi and tatertot threads and read them last night as I was finishing my first day. I was looking for recipes, but I found much more. Thanks for leading the way.
As for the rest of you, I just finished up Day 2, so I'm ahead of all you suckahs! Pow!
I'm going pretty strict. Only spuds, black coffee, tea and spices. I've used the Trader Joes Olive Oil cooking spray very lightly to keep the spuds from sticking.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress.
Day 1 results - down 2 lbs overnight to 152.4. I expect to get back to 150.0, same as the weight after 2 days of potato diet last week, fairly easily - then we'll see where we go from there.
I made potato soup last night at 9:30, so that I would have something good for today. It's pretty tasty for a non-cream soup. Here's what I did:
2 medium potatoes and 1 small sweet potato, chopped into half-inch cubes
1 small onion chopped and fried in 1 tsp olive oil
3 cups chicken stock (homemade if you've got it - I didn't so used soup stock)
1 rounded teaspoon curry powder
Salt and pepper to taste.
Fry onions in tsp oil, then sprinkle curry powder overtop and let cook for about 1 minute to bloom the flavours. Add broth and potatoes, bring to boil and cook on low/med until all are soft, less than 10 min. Using a hand blender, pulse the soup a few times to puree about half of it. Otherwise, place half in a blender, puree, then return to the pot. That makes the broth "creamy", but still allows chunks in the soup. Salt and pepper to taste.
I only had a taste last night as I wasn't hungry right before bed, but I'm looking forward to a big serving for lunch today. I could imagine a great Primal version of this soup with more onions, fried in more coconut oil, and maybe a shot of Greek yogurt stirred in at the end for creaminess.
Otzi, thanks for the chip-maker link. That's cool! I'm going to see if I can get it from Amazon.ca. Hubby LOVES chips!
I am down .5
Only .9 away from 70lbs
I felt confident I would be there this morning. uggh. But I am .5 closer
Sounds like every one is doing great. I love reading the experiences and suggestions
I guess I'll post my progress here, as well as the other thread(s).
I decided to give this thing a shot. 3.7kg (>8lbs) down at day 10. I'm pushing on through to 14 days, I think, would be good to dip under 80kg again and really give my tastebuds a chance to change. Already, I'm feeling back where I was over a year ago in terms of less cravings for sweet stuff, unsweetened strong black coffee is more palatable. I think this is giving me the kick up the butt I needed to get properly back on the Primal wagon, and proving to myself I have control over myself.
I'm posting a log in evernote:

wow, great job! Once again, your pics make me hungry! ha I guess I will go back to work instead
Round 1 last week. Four tater days. 147.2 to 145. Ate moderate over weekend.
Day 1 yesterday. Start 145.6. Ate two pounds sweet taters, 4 oz white taters (avoiding nightshade effect of last week), two cups organic chicken broth. Still having big hunger spikes throughout the day.
Day 2 same weight, 145.6. A bit disappointed but not giving up on my commitment!
