Heh, my cocktails were 16oz tumblers, half booze, half soda, and I'd drink about five
in five hours.
Tolerance of titanium I tell you.
My liver used to hate me. Now we're friends again, as now, within the last year, for SOME
REASON, 2 glasses of wine gives me a two day hangover complete with throwing up for
ONE of those two days.
And it ain't the tannins, or whatever else is in there, cuz it happens with everything.
Wah wah boo hoo, my professional drinking days totaling 20yrs is over.
I'm fine, really. REALLY, NO, I'M FINE! sniff...
Yeah, I think that's ONE of the best perks of California: Free Citrus.
All the trees are ripening up lickety split, and it's our winter tradition
to troll the neighborhood at 10pm with huge grocery bags and pillaging
the trees until we can barely carry any more.
Eating them on the walk home is a good fun sticky mess and enjoyed by
all ages! Yeah!
Also, it just floors me that the oranges/lemons/limes/tangerines in the stores
right now are at HIGHWAY ROBBERY PRICES with all these trees around chock
full of fruit.
W.T.F.?????
Seriously, I'm fully perplexed.
In *my* neighborhood, almost everyone has SOME sort of citrus tree.
In our backyard we have two orange trees, two lemon and two gross grapefruit..
(only because i hate grapefruit).
By the time January is over, I will become a tangerine myself.

Okay, so the end results of my Potato Project are:
Starting Weight first:
1) 125.8
2) 125.2
3) 124.6
4) 124.0
5) 123.8
6) 122.6
= 3.2lbs lost
Averaged Intake - 678 cals per day
According to my Bodybugg:
Averaged Burn - 2177 per day
Averaged Deficit - 1499
So 1499X5 = 7495 divided by 3500 (what they say that makes up a pound of fat) is
2.1
So theoretically, that's what I SHOULD have lost in "fat".
All these numbers are making my head swim. I think I'm supposed to calculate
if the bodybugg is accurate or not, but I can't right now cuz I'm dumb and can't
figure it out (anyone feel free to try if you like).
Anyway, there they are.
Today my husband bbq'd up a mess -o- chicken wings for lunch
which I gleefully ate, then I had some tortilla chips and salsa,
and then a small tangerine.
Pretty sure we're going to have pizza tonight, so tomorrow's gain should
be VERY interesting, as the crust of the pizza makes me hold lotsa water
for about 24hrs.
All in all, good experiment, and if the "weight" stays off, then I'll probably
implement this potato project every month for 5 days until I hit my goal
weight/look i want/clothes i want to fit again.

Did you measure your bf% too? I would like to get this stat more so than any number on the scale that people have been reporting :(
-
No.
I have no legitimate way to measure my bodyfat.
Sorry!
-
Aw :(
Well I guess how clothes fit is a pretty good measurement.
How have your lifts been doing lately? Where do you go walking? Is it still that trail by where you live? XD
-
I didn't do any weight lifting whilst doing the potato project, so I have no idea.
The way I can tell that I lost SOMETHING other than muscle, is that my underwear
is falling off of me.
Not for REAL falling off, but they're just big all over and are only held up by
my protruding rear end.
This week I've just been walking around my neighborhood.
No hiking or anything.
I DID do Quicksilver two weeks ago with a friend that I'd never hiked with and
OMG, I almost died. *I* am a fast walker/hiker but SHE was faster, AND, she
never stopped talking the entire time, so when I had to answer back, I almost
passed out!
Well, not really, but man, it was fast. Really, really, fast. I think we did it in 45 minutes
and it usually takes about an hour and fifteen minutes. Gah.
AND, it was raining that day and the trails were a MESS, all muddy and sliding and cakes
of mud on our shoes....
Which I don't mind, cuz I really do like all weather, but not walking that damn fast!

Yup, I always buy organic tubers! I think that is very important...

Julie - Good job, you embraced the essence of the potato diet hack and showed it worked! Thanks for starting this thread, the others were getting so long they were kind of pointless. I think after a thread hits about 15 pages, no one will read it all and just jumps to the end.
My takeaway from all the potato diet threads is: It works very well for 'most' people to lose 3-5lbs a week, for a week or two.
I personally plan to use it as my reset strategy when I get 4 or 5 lbs above my target weight. Maybe that should have been the name for this, "The Potato Reset".
The potato effect is gaining steam around the interwebz and when it hits Dr. Oz you all can say "I saw it on Mark's Daily Apple first!"

Did you guys see the Hasselback potatoes on FTA yesterday? I planned to make them but was impatient when it was time and made sweet potato and russet rounds baked on nonstick foil with salt.
-
Btw, are you guys buying organic potatoes? :)
