You want to avoid grains, so no bread. Some Primals eat potatoes, some don't. That is your personal preference. Personally I am very fond of sweet potatoes. They have a lot more nutrients than regular potatoes.

Thanks for the reply...a little confused. If the goal is to keep carbs under 150g per day, what is wrong with bread...as long as you stay under 150g per day?
Thanks
Barbara
Have you read the Primal Blueprint? Grains are full of antinutrients and are disruptive to the digestive system. Read the book, it will probably answer many of your questions.

Macronutrient count (i.e. carbs) is only a part of a Paleo or Primal nutritional philosophy. Avoiding toxic and processed substances, aka bread is another element.
Tubers are gaining more and more acceptance as more evidence becomes available that starches could be beneficial when consumed properly.
Just doing under 150 g carbs a day will put you into a kind of 'low carbish' diet range, without a particular nutritional philosophy. You can pick your brand name after looking at the variety of dietary approaches and go with any of a number of authors from Sonoma to Ferris....

If you haven't already gotten it, the whole point of this thing is no grain...or processed foods.
Absolutely perplexes me that you'd go through the process of signing up for the board without so much as reading the website. I mean, you didn't read any of the material here, yet you thought it wise to asks us questions. Did you realize that you'd have to read our answers? I'm not even trying to be mean, I'm genuinely curious as to what your thought process was here.
