I don't really have advice, I'm only on my first day here.. but I really don't think the idea is to be ravenously hungry. If you are hungry, eat another potato or 2 :) That's why it's call the Potato Diet, no?

I was too curious to wait until Monday, so I'm trying it for 2 1/2 days until our dinner party on Saturday evening. I started this morning with black coffee (my usual since doing Whole 30 earlier this year), then baked a moderate sized potato in the mic and chopped it up with celery salt and black pepper. It was delicious and filling. Had more coffee about 11 when I was a bit peckish, but I was at work with nothing but a raw potato and my jar of celery salt, so I waited for lunch to have another baker, about 12:45. Easiest lunch I've ever made - wash then throw raw potato in lunch bag - done!! Had herbal tea at lunch and in mid p.m. Then roasted little red gems (cooked with about a tsp of oil, S&P and herbes de Provence. Delicious! Tea now before bed and another two little red potatos, cold. I've been satisfied all day - no starving, no blood sugar fluctuations or cravings. Interesting day. How can I feel so satisfied on only about 600 kcals? I've also managed 16 g protein, 16 g fibre and only 120 g carb, well within Primal guidelines.
I had potatoes au gratin for dinner. Love potatoes!

Yum! How did you prepare them? My favorite right now are skillet hash browns.
I woke up 1.5 lbs lighter this morning after Day 1 of "traditional" only potatoes diet. The back story to this is that I have been shedding bloat weight all week after a bad eating week last week, and started 5 days ago at 157. By eating 80% primal, I was able to drop like a rock - 155, 153.5, 152.5. So when I was down to 151.0 this morning, an additional 1.5 lb loss, it was surprising that I would be down that much more water weight after an all carb day. Very counter-intuitive...
Can't wait to see what Day 2 feels like...

wtg! I had some water weight *mostly water I think) from 2 Thanksgivings also, about 3.5lb So I got that off plus some by Low carbing a couple days first, and then some days including tators but not all tators yet. Just tators during the day and then dinner, so I am anxious for my weigh-in today also. Oh, I guess it is after 7, I can weigh anytime now. Will wait till the house clears a bit :o
Starting Day 4 and curious to see if my appetite will lessen. Day 3 was the most difficult for me. I ate a little under 1100 calories. Sweet potatoes/ Yukon gold mix with the addition of a few mini Tri colored peppers and 2 T of half and half.
My hands feel arthritic. I am in RA remission for a decade. I haven't eaten but the very occasional tater because of low carb. Interesting to see a reaction to nightshade so quickly. I will watch to see what happens. Will throw in a rice meal to this mix if necessary.
I was really disappointed to see the scale remain the same but honestly happy that it didn't go up!
This is when I would want to throw in the towel and say its not working. Good news for me is that I have taters, I'm committed, and I'm going to continue and see how it plays out.
Day 1- 147.2
Day 2- 146
Day 3 - 145.2
Day 4 - 145.2
F/62/5'4"

Hope the RA feels better. My sister has some trouble with that. I hurt my shoulder flinging a saddle one time, and the doctor said I had some kind of arthritis there, I can't even remember now what they said, but so far it doesnt bother me.
I know what you mean about the scale. I am a daily weigher anyways, I wasnt always but now I like to see what this and that does to me. It is harder though when you throw exercise in the mix - just one more variable. So I try not to trip on it all but watch for patterns.
My scale went down another .7  Again, I am not all tators. I am tators plus dinner so still at a pretty good deficit. I am anxious to do all tators. I am soooo close to 70lbs gone. But now that I got the water gain back off, each loss is a new number for me, one that I havent seen for quite awhile, so I am very happy about that
Does anyone know if the super high potassium intake has the same effects as a high sodium intake with regards to dehydration/water balance? Maybe I'm not using enough salt to level out the potassium, because I generally feel very parched and the edges of my lips have even started to crack a bit. Very strange, considering I'm taking in almost 10,000mg of potassium and drinking plenty of water.

Be careful with too much potassium. Your electrolytes should be balanced to prevent cardiac issues. Increase your sodium intake if the ratio if far off. Also, a magnesium supplement might be helpful. And yeah, potassium is a salt just like sodium, so an imbalance could result in thirst, cramps, etc.
When you saying taking 10,000mg of potassium, you mean eating, not supplementing, right? Just checking because I o take supplement but I'd cut back on high potato diet.
