My gastro recommends Miralax--supposedly it can be taken daily and doesn't have the negative effects of other laxatives.
I apologise for this because I realise this is a serious question, but try this (and you did say in your journal that you like your food hot!) Being stupid, me and my brother tried it, only once mind, and it is mildly piquant!!
The Chicken Ringstinger
A dish originating from just south of the North Circular, London. This dish is loved by all, but I'll take no responsibility if you're a bit too much of a big jessy and you end up on the toilet for days on end after eating it!
2 lbs Chicken
6 Medium Onions, chopped
4 Cloves Garlic, chopped
8 tblspn Ghee or Vegetable Oil
2 cans of chopped tinned tomatoes
24 fresh Habaneros Chillis, chopped
30 dried red chillies,crushed
2 tspn Red food colouring
2 tsp ground turmeric
2 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp ground coriander
5 tsp ground hot chilli powder
1 tsp dried fenugreek leaves
A couple of capsicum pods
Optional (for the clinically insane only):
¼ bottle of tabasco sauce (try eating a teaspoon neat!)
¼ bottle Encona West Indian Hot Pepper sauce (mmm)
12 large jugs iced water
15 rolls of Kleenex
1 week off work
1. Fry the chicken, onions, garlic in some of the oil. Put all the spices in a bowl with a bit of water and mix to a paste. Fry this paste in a second pan for 10 minutes in some of the oil. Now combine all ingredients in a large vat or saucepan and simmer for 1-2 hours.
2. Add 3 tablespoons chilli powder and some more dried red chillies towards the end. Add a teaspoon Garam Masala 5 minutes before serving.
3. Leave to cool for 2 minutes before serving.
4. Serve on a bed of rice, followed by a bed in hospital.
I read this somewhere probably a year ago, and have found it to be true for myself. Eat soup. Make a nice chicken & veggie soup with homemade broth (so you know what's in it), and let it all cook in the broth for a while to soak up liquid.
I believe the rationale was that eating food that is really bulked up with water kind of encourages everything to push through a lot faster. Just drinking a lot of water won't do the same thing as eating a food that has been saturated in water. I am sure there's a more detailed explanation online, but I can vouch that this method works for me. :-)
A couple of tablespoons of coconut oil works for me.
I personally prefer to make a glass of Natural Calm & add a teaspoon of vitamin C crystals.
Little bit of Bubbie's Sauerkraut or Kimchi.
10 ounce bottle followed with 3 8 ounce glasses of water. Stay close to the bathroom after you drink it. I would use this if you need instant relief. Miralax would have to be used 'off-label' in order to relieve you immediately, it's more of a daily, longterm use product.
Strong coffee on an empty stomach tends to get me moving, if you will.
