I have been using this recipe with great success. Everyone has loved it.

I also serve leeks with cream and nutmeg and the way I cook carrots is to boil them until they are just soft, and in a serving bowl put a bit of olive oil, apple cider vinegar (ratio 1/4 to 3/4) chop up some fresh garlic, let it all soak and then top with parsley. The three flavours work well together.
i would think that as long as they're not vegetarian or vegan, any primal meal would satisfy and even dazzle just about anyone. i'm having non-primal friends over this weekend, and they're getting recipes i've read about on this forum. roasted veggies and sausage, stuffed tomatoes/peppers, butternut squash soup, red wine, etc.
no cw substitutions...just great tasting foods and celebration of fall and my anniversary.
Apps: Deviled eggs, veggie platter
Pulled pork (crock pot)
Green beans cooked with bacon
Dessert- people will be stuffed. But grill some peaches and serve with whipped cream
More elegant, but with some 20%
Wrap asparagus with prosiutto or bacon
Dress up deviled eggs with salad shrimp
old school- shrimp cocktails
Steak or some form of roast
Make a fancy blue cheese sauce if desired (20%)
Chocolate mousse (20%)
or to be fully primal
Berries layered with whipped coconut cream
The bora bira meatballs from Well Fed
Steak salad cups (this months Bon Appetit)
Crudites and dip made with home made aioli
Bacon wrapped Figs
Prosiitto wrapped asparagus
Berries dipped in dark chocolate
I'll just say- primal eating isn't all that unique unless you get into offal which is probably not gonna fly. I wouldn't bother with making faked CW and SAD foods. Just pull together an assemblage of primal foods in a theme.

lol yeah i was gonna say i dont really think of it as a substitution if i were to have some sweet potato. i love it, i have it a few times a week with dinners. we rub them in olive oil and bake them in the oven skins on whole. the skin basically starts peeling off it. and with some butter inside of it it is so so sweet just as it is, like its dripping with honey. i almost feel guilty eating it because it is so sweet its like eating sweet potato pie. in fact i bet if i put some cinnamon butter on it and some whipped coconut cream it could be dessert for a night!
Ohhh, some sort of crockpot meat usually goes over well. I made some pork shoulder with primal BBQ sauce the other day, it was phenomenal with avocado. Add lots of fresh pico de gallo, or mango salsa (put some tequila in there!), it will go over well! And for dessert, you could try something like hazelnut butter dark chocolate cups (I also like them with pumpkin seed butter).
